Carlos Alberto Montaner Correctly Analyzes the Miserable Disaster that is the Rafael Correa Illigitimate Authoritarianism- aka Communism
April 5, 2007 We feature a superb April 1, 2007 article by Carlos Alberto Montaner (read it here) about the horrible crisis afflicting Ecuador.
Montaner, himself a distinguished writer who is committed to building a better tomorrow for so many across the Americas, knows what he is talking about having narrowly escaped the clutches of certain death- physical or spiritual- at the hands of Fidel Castro's ruinous goons.
Montaner assumes incorrectly that Correa actually learned first hand applicable economic studies when in fact Correa simply abused ecoonomic theorems to self justify by any means possible his own view that only communism/state socialism can suffice as the sole economic theory.
In fact, Correa's schooling showewd him fighting against normative economic theories and recommitting to his own position that development and trade harms nations even as all economic dats shows the facts to the contrary. Never mind, claims Correa: the facts are irrelevant in his world which deifies communism. Sadly, Correa is setting about with gusto to install his own private hell in Ecuador, promising [also called bribing] riches for the poor when the "poor" will have the same opportunities as their comrades in Cuba: to live and die on less than $1200 a year while their badly educated children run away.
We commend Carlos Alberto and hope that his pen is never silenced. Unfortunately, in Ecuador today Correa has already set about to silence free speech: by Correa's edict, no free speech is permitted today that might say one word against his April 15 referenda vote. Such crimes as free speech against communism....to usher in a worker's paradise... is just the beginning. We note that Correa's latest Love Letter to the Pope for Easter is far less sincere than Correa's Letter of Adoration and Solidarity for the athiestic Fidel Castro....publicly (posted here) pledging to convert Ecuador into a communist paradise on earth exactly as Castro has performed across his island gulag called Cuba.
We believe that Correa's letter of political and economic solidarity with Castro [ and Chavez] is the only honest statement Correa has ever made. The Church and the "poor" deserve far better than Correa's communism.
Correa has clearly ignored the lessons of history and this Pope's best friend: Pope John Paul II who ardently lived the moral suasion that communism kills mankind's freedoms- both spiritual and economic. THat should be Correa's letter of gratitude to the church for its moral stance for mankind's freedom....not ignoring the march of history and what this Church stands for... which is not communism. That would be an appropriate note for Easter.
