GLENCORE HIGHLIGHTED
August 2, 2007 The Editors of ECRISIS add this report from the July 31, 2007 Wall Street Journal on Glencore, as "successor to Marc Rich, Glencore gains power as trader, producer, too." As we strive to keep updated, any who are interested in the Latin oil trades, transportation, extraction businesses, and Ecuador's recent gas transport bid would be, we suggest readers and follow the updated, more current facts here more current facts here which should augment or update our previous posts. We have also been informed by some that Traffigura and its "face in Venezuela," Wilmer Rupperti, publicly a close friend to Hugo Chavez, have separated even as we are told that both still do "business" with Chavez. Fact based disclosure regarding any of these companies and Hugo Chavez and for that matter, Rafael Correa and their financial arrangements, are very hard to come by, if not now almost impossible.
Russia's mega aluminum maker RUSAL will merge with Glencore, also reported in the WALL STREET JOURNAL here amid allegations of mob links and FBI investigations. Allegations are one thing while fact based reporting is another. We commend the latter and welcome more transparency and disclosure.
