A Debauched Ecuador Rises to Serve Mankind while Liberty is a Joke

August 5, 2007 Ecuador is deeply corrupted under the reins of Rafael Correa, however much his cabinet wants to tell us all that they alone have clean hands and are the true messengers of reform to "serve mankind." Correa likes to call his efforts an attack on Ecuador's elites and entrenched interests. As any student of history knows, Ecuador has no real elites since the 1999 meltdown of Ecuador at the hands of then President Mahaud and his sole paid advisor Jeffrey Sachs.

Noboa's leadership delivered a few band aids and returned Ecuador somewhat to global markets  whiile Lucio Gutierrez retained some efforts to prop up Ecuador's reforms, however small, only to lose all progress as his regime exposed itself as not only fumbling, self enriching kleptocrats but already doing the samba with the ruinous Hugo Chavez cadre of corruption planners. While Ecuadoreans rejected Gutierrez's ham handed shredding of law and order, it seems our friends from the North....Caracas and Cuba that is, figured Lucio had not moved fast enough and joined the melee to install the more pro-Chavez Palacio who ended up serving Ecuador badly. Palacio's key players remain in play today under the Correa regime.

Correa pretends that he/his government acts to bring assistance to all Ecuadoreans. No facts exist to verify any sustainable benefit to any Ecuadoreans under Correa's hand except some really good propaganda and some really sweeping illegal take over plans which will solely benefit Correa and his Chavez-backed politboro and none others. Apparently, Rafael Correa and his cabinet are not picky at all about whom they will crawl in to bed with, so to speak. With a proclivity of alignments as ridiculous as arranged marriages or worse, showing the morals of a gay bath house where anything goes, the Correa team has aligned with Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro and now the incredably duplicitous mullahs of Iran. And anything goes....starting with freedom and integrity.

Indeed, so intwined is Correa with these dysfunctional criminal arbiters of malfeasance and misery that there is no separating Ecuador today from its bigamous relations with criminal gangsters, Chavez,  Iran, the FARC, and Russian mafia mavens. Insulza of the OAS insures their success by calling this mafia a "buen momento" for the Andes. Buen for Iran and Chavez but mui malo for functional democracy. Ecuador's elites today are Chavez. the Russian mobsters, Castro's thugs and the FARC.Worse still, the never ethical elites of Ecuador- or what is left of them- have jumped right in to this crowded bed and made common cause with these criminals on the excuse that they "need to survive' and "make money" while selling their nation down the Amazonas river.

Ask yourself this one basic question:  do you feel more confident today under Correa's authoritarian regime or not?

If you do, you are truly a perfect Latin American idiot and ripe for the take over of all freedoms because you are lazy.

In six months, Correa's self coup has  has removed legal members of Congress, high court justice and mainstream free speech at the point of a gun. And he is just getting started.Correa has sanctioned some of the worst public and private debaucheries, not seen since Buccaram commandeered Hotel Colon for baccanales, called his state events. Correa remains unrepentent and unconvinced that integrity in leadership matters more than a bottle of cognac.

Ecuadoreans are being duped by these thugs, liars and immoral leaders in Ecuador who have all the fortitude of renting  cheesey hotel rooms for arranging far reaching crimes to cause financial harm to innocent victims or celebrating their own Chavez-backed end to legitimate government with drunken orgies   rejoicing the installation of a whole new government: their communist government and it is all based on fraud. And as noted before, Insulza wants to bring  in his well paid Greek chorus who would not know functional government if it hit them on the head. Insulza thinks this is helpful....just as he thinks it is helpful to jump in bed with Hugo Chavez to maintain diplomacy. Matters are already crowded by now but we see that IDEA, Insulza's NGO, will add one more element of fake respect for this orgy of criminal actors.

But Ecuador, like Bolivia and Venezuela are not the only ones suffering the effects of goofy, well paid contractors who sincerely believe that more government of the corrupt and for the corrupt, protected by vastly more central authoritarian/dictatorial regime gamesmanship is serving mankind...just as they served mankind in Zimbabwe, Sudan, Belarus,  Iran and Palestine. Serving mankind their way is a farce. But Europe itself suffers these very same activists in many stripes and faces vigorous back room efforts to over control Europe....right in to an early grave where the "new" socialists translate to this "new moment" which, we remind, is neither new nor a noteworthy moment.

Business Week featured a superb piece on the challenges of new constitutions and even handed governance, read it here.

It is our hope that every Ecuadorean will use this as a blue print for challenging the Correa communist constitution installation process underway called the "new moment/the constituent assembly" and compare and contrast the critical components noted here. If this is good enough for Europe to consider, why is this not good enough in Quito? In fact, why would Insulza bring his gaggle of do nothing consultants instead of a group that actually wants to build better governance, better/sustainable jobs and a better future for all Ecuadoreans? Serving mankind, it seems, according to Rafael Correa and his pass through schill Insulza is roasting functional democracy on an open  spit and celebrating with a drunken orgy. This approach did not work well in 50 AD, it did not work well in 1939 in Berlin and it did not work well in Cambodia in 1974. It definitely did not work well at all in Havana in 1959 nor a few weeks' ago when the FARC shot innocent hostages held in Colombia. Serving mankind it seems is not a bonfire of freedom but rather opening man's highest and best potential. There is no potential in Ecuador today under the current roadmap to run away and hide from all our potentials. Just ask the Ecuadorean refugees all over the globe....20 % of the country has fled and they will not be coming back. Rafael Correa cares nothing at all about revising Ecuador to sustain mankind's highest hopes- nothing at all. Worse yet- he has no clue whatsoever how to actually build a nation, let alone rebuild a failed state. He needs to go.

The author of this piece brilliantly states, "Certainly, Europe needs a constitution. When we finally get one, let's make it clear and concise so that everyone can understand it. The Americans, in spite of all their challenges, have managed to get by fairly well with a document that runs 13 pages, including every amendment to the present day. We could be indulgent with, say, 20 pages.

The Opportunity to Hope

But if the elite insist on proffering 400 pages of nonsense, they shouldn't be surprised when they get sent back to the drawing board. If this is worth doing, it's worth doing right. If it takes us four or 40 years to get there, then so be it, but trying to smuggle a constitution through parliaments and ignoring the people while pandering to vested interests under the guise of a constitutional rewrite will only result in the same answer."

The author, Ganley, presciently points out that twenty pages of constitutional text is preferable to over 400. Is this even a choice for Ecuador or has IDEA already blessed the morass of Chavez-backed constitutional junk? Of course the Chavez-backed goons have intertwined with many in Ecuador's business community- a bad alliance- but a real one nonetheless which of course leaves us with the Correa-Chavez business elites, which we remind are noether elite nor legitimate business persons but rather murky, shadowy players of some global stage best rejected. Did Insulza or Correa in their vast experience and wisdom even think to review functional government with sound practicioners and draw on experiences from nations that are not dead yet and enjoy a far happier existence that then preferred maestros from Caracas, Havana and Irani? And what of hope? At the core of this, is there anything remotely resembling hope for a future for any Ecuadorean under the yoke of Chavez and Castro as is being sold today? No- there is no hope under Chavez's communism for Ecuador. Any government that denies hope for its  people is committing a grave sin. Ecuador must reject Insulza's phony blessings for what they are: a pass through for fake managers of democracy who know nothing about rebuilding Ecuador and care even less about sustainable, vibrant liberty. If Ecuadoreans do not care and do not demand what they know they need to do, Chavez and Castro gain a constitutional ally while Correa and Insulza sing their Greek chorus...with all failed dictators and communists. Correa's plan to serve mankind is death by degrees and the end of hope. Correa tells us all that he brings hope and that he serves mankind. While we are not clear what Correa defines as mankind since his world view seems to be divded in to the serfs/the workers and the enlightened communist dictators/the politboro, we do know that his version of hope is and it is really called disaster and ruin. Debauched leaders get one a debauched government. Killing liberty is just the first step.
