Ecuador Could be-Should be- Signing an FTA Like Costa Rica

October 9, 2007 We are delighted that Costa Rica showed some uncommon common sense on Sunday and publicly voted to support its CAFTA trade agreement. Can you imagine a whole nation voting to destroy/remove about 1/2 its GDP with no replacements, no jobs, no future other than even more misery and poverty? This was what was at stake on Sunday: suicide for a nation or a chance to sustain a future. We really have to question the sanity of the "NO" vote- no to progress, no to trade, no to sustainable future and a national suicide. But the vote was close which shows the impact of dishonest propaganda on the trade pact vote.
We hold many liars and dunces responsible for the disinformation campaign that riddled Costa Rica and these persons should be held accountable for publicly lying. This would include shunning, shaming and reminding that lying and manipulating is not welcome.

A thoughtful review on all this is from today's INVESTORS BUSINESS DAILY, (read it here). This article notes that US elected officials like Nancy Pelosi , Bernie Sanders, and Harry Reid, deeply connected to global labor unions and their Soros funded NGO style donor-activists, backed the ridiculous lies and propaganda efforts against FTA/CAFTA and stood squarely against economic promise for Costa Rica, sounding more like Chavez and Soros than ever before. For the record, PUBLIC CITIZEN, a USA based "ngo" dredges up fear and spreads canard to further 3rd world nations in their ruinous and debilitating union-backed socialist adventures. What Ralph Nader pro union, anti trade group says today on its web site is simply not true.

Indeed, the USA could turn away from South America all together and shun this zone for the probable Zimbabwe like foolishness that it is becoming....because Latins seem to choose death pacts- grown from dishonesty- rather than self propelling growth. If you agree with Hugo Chavez and Rafael Correa that Zimbabwe and Iran or Cuba are great places to live and partner with, then there is no hope for your integrity. Please- move there now. You may yet feel the power of the overwhelmingly disgusting governments that these nations are....where one and all feel raped daily.
This small triumph for Costa Rica gives their people a chance to breathe and build a future. In one of the most aberrant and dysfunctional perversions of presidential leadership, Rafael Correa of Ecuador refuses to even permit a functional free trade agreement with the USA. He is accountable to all Ecuadoreans for this sheer stupidity which, like Costa Rica, will cancel about 1/2 of Ecuador's GDP and will ultimately yield the ruination of its non oil sector, which is not doing so well either following the systemic graft, dysfunction and dishonest behaviors of the ridiculous self enriching, union style pass through accounts for all manner of racketeering: Ecuador's own unaudited Petroecuador.
We are happy for Costa Rica. We think that Correa has performed disgracefully in rejecting the promise of tomorrow for Ecuadoreans. Worse yet- we hold the people across the land responsible for not holding Correa to any semblance of productive governance for Ecuador. Correa is in the business of ruining this land and the voters need to remind him that they will not let him. Ecuador was an early leader in support of the FTAAs. Mismanagement, greed, self enriching schemes with Chavez- and his support groups sometimes called Soros-funded anti US activists, and outright lies have overcome the weak and easily manipulated Ecuadoreans. The diagnosis is not pretty and the cure for these abject ailments which plunge Ecuador in to its currently embarrassing station as a failed state can be rectified. It will however demand an end to the national illness called manipulative addictions and dishonesty.
Do you know precisely WHY Rafael Correa refuses to permit Ecuador's joining all nations making fundamental progress through FTA-NAFTA-CAFTA agreements? The answer centers on Correa's refusal to enjoin the basics of any national responsibility: transparency and rule of law. Correa, you see, believes that no Bi Lateral Investment Treaty- aka rule of law- is bearable because the BIT brings a small amount of accountability, sunlight and jurisprudence to a land where murder, crime, dishonesty is an overwhelming epidemic. Like many African nations in the 1980s which refused to be honest about their own epidemic-HIV -AIDS, Correa refuses to be honest about Ecuador's epidemic: overwhelming criminality. There is today no way out for Correa is trying to manipulate his way in to performance ratings. The facts are on the table and Correa is ruining Ecuador. Do you know why Peru, Chile, Mexico, Canada and Colombia are so appealing these days?
Do you know why so many many businesses are relocating to the north and south of Ecuador? Do you understand that no one willingly relocates to Cuba, Caracas, Haiti, Zimbabwe and Iran for a healthy, happy life? Do not fool yourself and if you really believe that Ecuador offers a happy life under the yoke of fascism, ask yourself why it is that over 20% of all Ecuadoreans have fled in less than a decade. The diaspora has nothing to do with the ridiculous excuses given by the global experts called US AID NGOs who tell us that this is due to the oligarchs and the unending poverty which must be saved by merging the uneducated, manipulative, and badly prepared Ecuador with Chavez and Iran. Do you know why the Chambers of Commerce have done nothing functional to sustain employment- jobs- businesses in Ecuador? Do you know why Ecuador is a failed nation? Do you know why Ecuador, Haiti, Cuba and Venezuela are so repulsive these days, replicating life in a sewer? Ask. We suspect you already know the answer. Act. Be informed. And become active.
