December 1, 2007   The Editors of ECrisis suggest that a full review of the interview with U.S. ambassador Linda Jewell as seen in the November 27, 2007 issue of VANGUARDIA guide our next steps in determining not only the diagnosis of how Ecuador has succumbed to the current state of lawlessness and their dictatorial joining of the Chavez bloc of nations but what next steps are required to turn this failed, illegitimate undemocratic state around. This article is not some opinion piece or analysis of Jewell's performance: it is her words which she claims are the words of the USA. We suggest that a fulsome review of this be underway. We refuse to believe that Jewell is the face of the USA and we reject her overt embrace of Rafael Correa's crime spree in Ecuador and her irresponsible refusal to present the facts. The USA deserves better and so too do the people of Ecuador.
 
In numerous public and private reports about Ecuador's demise, the front line of the USA in Ecuador wants us all to know that the United States loves Chavez's paid proxy named Correa -read it here-  and she finds Rafael Correa to be a clever, well educated leader of men and women who is never to be confused with the aggressive, low brow badly educated Chavez and Morales.

Linda Jewell, the face of the USA, wants you to know that Rafael Correa is a positive dictator for the region because unlike Chavez, he is never stubborn or crude and always pleasant. Mimicking her friend who is an avid supporter of George Soros- the Carterite John Maisto, this key functionary of the USG tells us to never pay attention to what Correa says but to watch what he does. While "amb." Jewell hails from her close affiliation with Senators Dodd, Leahy and the Clintonites; Ms. Jewell has rolled out the welcome mat for over $30 million in US AID monies to assist her Soros-aligned anti-Plan Colombia so called NGOs who are crawling across Ecuador, even as the FARC is crawling across Ecuador.
 
Rafael Correa is a carbon copy of Hugo Chavez, contrary to what Jewell says. Correa has merged what is left of Ecuador with the entirety of Chavez's political and geo physical bloc under a sweeping combination of the Chavez military plan. Jewell "forgets" to report this. Correa is a dictator whose self coup has removed Ecuador from "free and fair" nation status, contrary to OAS chief Insulza's laughable commendations of the fake assembly of kangaroos hopping around Montecristi- where no free or fair media is permitted nor independent observers- and she forgets to relay the fact that Correa has disastrously combined Ecuador's GDP with that of Iran and Chavez's Venezuela while encouraging the FARC.
 
Contrast the long overdue and utterly correct description of Chavez- which mirrors Correa even more perfectly by Donald Rumsfeld today. While Jewell and her paid US AID-Soros minions of misinformation, like her pal Paul Reichler loathe and despise Rumsfeld and sue the U.S.A., we cannot help but applaud Rumsfeld as a truth teller when the USA's own diplomatic corps is still choking over having to - gasp!- at last! admit that Chavez is a criminal voyeur and that Alvaro Uribe is a man of principled positions. Read Rumsfeld here. 
 
This then is what Linda Jewell should have been reporting in VANGUARDIA. Like Rumsfeld, she would be correct to say that like Chavez, Correa  brought the people of Ecuador to a phony constituent assembly by lying about the facts and a pre written  Venezuelan combination plan called the"...constitutional referendum, which, if passed, could obliterate the few remaining vestiges of  [Ecuadorean and] Venezuelan democracy. The world is saying little and doing less as President [Correa and] Hugo Chávez dismantles [Ecuador's and] Venezuela's constitution, silences its independent media and confiscates private property. [Correa and] Chávez's ambitions do not stop at Venezuela's borders, either. He has repeatedly threatened its neighbors..." But Linda Jewell does not want you to know what Correa does and how he acts and she agrees with her pay pal Paul that Correa must be silenced on the global stage if he is to succeed in the manipulative war of words for any real face of Correa shows his perversions and insistence on global criminality.
 
Linda Jewell wants you to know- she can hardly wait to show you- that Rafael Correa is embraceable- literally and figuratively.

Linda Jewell is not the face of the entire United States- in fact- she is the face of only about half of the USA. She represents the appeasement half which pretends that unaccountability and dishonesty is fine as long as one does not ever get caught up by the facts. She represents, in short- the half of the USA that does nothing meaningful about anything. Linda Jewell is a political creature - a Chris Dodd-Nancy Pelosi Democrat with Clinton ties and full representation to promote the anti-Colombia, pro Soros activists in her parvenu. She does not represent the half of the USA- and is not their face- that actually works hard to promote free trade, U.S. commercial interests, law enforcement, and fact based reporting.
 
Linda Jewell would do well to report, as does the WALL STREET JOURNAL today; read the entire accurate summary on Chavez here, that coups "...do not always wear khaki.  Sometimes they take the form of populist politicians who use "democracy" to consolidate their power. That's the case in Venezuela, where President Hugo Chávez is promoting a national referendum this Sunday that would give him vast new authority. If he gets away with it, we hope his many American enablers will acknowledge their contribution."
 
Further, "But he has tired of its checks and balances, especially its decentralized power. He now wants to restore more authority to his central government. Communal councils will rule locally, but their members will no longer be elected; they will be appointed by the Chávez government. His name for this is "participatory democracy," which he prefers over the "representative" kind. A "yes" vote will give the executive control over central bank reserves. To promote his "productive economic model," Mr. Chávez is also modifying private property rights. The new standard of ownership will be "mixed properties held between the State, the private sector and the communal power, so as to create the best conditions for the collective and cooperative construction of a Socialist Economy." The state will have the right to occupy any private property that it plans to expropriate in advance of any judicial review. Any property deemed by the state to be nonproductive could be transferred to "public corporations, cooperatives, communities or social organizations." Perhaps you thought this sort of thing went out of style about 1989. But Mr. Chávez believes socialism didn't fail; it just wasn't tried with enough gusto."
 
This gusto to forcibly and deceptively install totalitarian controls has just blown through the cheesy conference center hastily enshrined in Montecristi. Correa wants you to be even more manipulated to believe that his front man at the so called assembly of his own asambleistas whose sum total IQ is of about 14, are well educated advocates of democracy under Correa and Ricardo Patiño's own coordinator, Alberto Acosta. This town full of lemmings exists solely to hide their process, present a fake sense of majority and bar open media and transparency from any observer not cleared by Chavez-Correa bouncers who run Montecristi. Let us be clear: the USA does not support Rafael Correa any more than it supports Hugo Chavez and Iran's Ahmadinejad- they have merged in to a bloc where nothing is legitimate, nothing is honest and nothing helps the people of Ecuador. Linda Jewell forgets to report this. Worse yet: Ecuadoreans do nothing to correct her disinformation as they should.

The headline reads: The USA Supports Correa. Linda Jewell wants you to know that the USA loves Correa and she does, too. The USA does not love Rafael Correa: he has lied to the USA and everyone else and has ruinously removed democracy in Ecuador. What we do not know is why Linda Jewell is in love with Correa and wants you to think that the USA is, too.
 
This is the face of the USA in Ecuador today. Note that this is not the face of Negroponte or Rice or Bush. It is a hybrid face of Chavez and Soros's proxy Chris Dodd with lipstick.
 
The "lady ambassador" from the USA to Ecuador today tells us, as she has been for over two years, that Hugo Chavez's take over of Ecuador is what the USA stands to defend and that Correa's theft of U.S. properties is a very good thing because this provides the much needed end to democracy in Ecuador while ending what Chavez and Correa call "the oligarchs" which hurt the poor. Providing us with a window on to these U.S. diplomats gone native- Chavez-native that is, U.S. amb. Jewell gives a stunning promotional for Correa's propagandists, buying in to each and every Chavez propaganda line known.
 
Rafael Correa as president of Ecuador has stolen billions from his own tax payers, has commandeered all levers of state controls and has stolen billions from U.S. and other foreign companies.
 
The U.S. lady ambassador thinks this is a good thing, as she tells us, because this will help Ecuador eliminate property rights, capitalism, free trade and commerce while ruinously plunging the completely dishonest Correa government of Ecuador in to more unemployment, unaccountability and lawlessness, which are the current norms in Ecuador under Correa.
 
Linda Jewell wants you to know that the U.S. government has nothing whatsoever to say in defense of U.S. businesses who have suffered billions in losses by her best friend Rafael Correa because, as she tells us, this all belongs in the hands of lawyers- and never diplomats. Linda Jewell wants you to know that the private sector in Ecuador is overwhelmed by Correa's perception of popularity and therefore Correa, who has yet to make one verifiable or accountable budget or legitimate act, must be treated as respectable when he has yet to perform one respectable step. Linda Jewell cares nothing for accountability which does not exist in Ecuador and she cares nothing about transparency or the utter loss of quality of life in Ecuador, ignoring all statistics about Ecuador in her unending insistence that criminal dictatorships run by her preferred NGOS- will thrive when nothing is thriving in Ecuador except the cottage industries busy today selling deception and fraud.
 
Arguably the worst in a long string of flawed dignitaries foisted on Ecuador over the last 15 years, Jewell, sounding like she has been carefully scripted by her friend- Correa's lobbyist in chief Paul Reichler and the DNC's preferred propaganda team at Fenton Communications in Washington and Ecuador, has revealed her complicity with the Soros and Chavez elements running Ecuador now. She is buoyed by the march of history as the pro FARC Alfaristas march across Montecristi today.
 
This is no legitimate constituent assembly. It is a freak show and Linda Jewell needs to have her credentials revoked for failing to factually report the facts about this so called democratic adventurism which is neither honest nor legitimate nor democratic nor helpful to anyone except Chavez, Correa and the Soros minions aiding and abetting this freak show.
 
Linda Jewell is no diplomat and she is not honest. Jewell has failed to relay the facts on the ground and has provided not one word in fact based analysis of the remarkably corrupt Correa dictatorship. She needs to go and take her Soros and anti Colombia gaggle of NGOs advisors with her.
 
We do not enjoy criticizing any government or its employees. We prefer a different path. We cannot however sit by and ignore this maestro de capilla of goofy anti-democratic venues any longer whose sole intent is to obscure the facts and perpetuate propaganda....non facts. This is intolerable and reflects badly on the USA which today is promoting correctly sustainable development and democratic values. Linda Jewell promotes dishonesty and unsustainable economies of scale such as perpetuated by Hugo Chavez and Rafael Correa in their unending stream of illegitimate acts.
 
Regarding the naive HERITAGE Foundation pipe dream that pouring more and more anti USA, anti-democracy money in to Nicaragua through US AID's on going systemic contract fraud gamesmanship called NGO activists to debase liberty's assets and enshrine non democratic governance of fraud and racketeering, sometimes called the governments of Morales, Chavez, Correa, Castro and Ortega, we reject the call for more U.S. money gone bad, as suggested here. The HERITAGE is right that the USA must use its economic tools to assist in rebuilding Latin nations. But the HERITAGE forgets itself and history by encouraging the same team that brought us....Chavez, Morales and Correa and their horrific non-constitutions by caveat as well as the reprehensible governmental structure foisted on Iraqis by these all wise US AID known nothing/do nothing non democracy nabobs. Of course the USA should get its money back from Daniel Ortega. It is impossibly naive of the U.S. government to continue to pour U.S. monies into contractors who neither work to sustain democracy's principles nor deliver performance based work products that include actual rule of law. Instead, as in Iraq, these foot soldiers of confusion deliver the goofiest political structures that actually confuse and destabilize nations, leaving them impossibly dysfunctional. Bolivia and Ecuador and Venezuela have been crawling with US AID NGOs whose cottage industry is to lie a lot about what they do while actively promoting so called democracies that are sheer mirrors of their goal which is opaque dictatorial authoritarianism called "alternative democracy" where law and order, due process, accountability and even handed justice are ignored in order to perforce more "perfect" unions- Chavez's unions for criminality, that is.

We read that Chavez is a socialist dictatorial state wanna be: this is simply not true. Chavez is a determinedly non-democratic criminal communist, economic fascist single handedly controlling all of Venezuela's unaccountable oil revenues, and dictator-kleptocrat who has built a regional bloc of mirror criminal nations  in Bolivia and Ecuador while acting as a state sponsor of terror, building a blockade of military offensive weaponry while expanding the legitimizing of the illegitimate non rule of law. Understand this: win or lose in their so called assemblies and constitutional rewriting adventures, Chavez and his bag man Rafael Correa stand to enjoy more self enrichment through their financial racketeering, sometimes called derivatives oil trade and sometimes called the global bond market. See BLOOMBERG’s: Venezuela Bonds Tumble as Chavez Plans to Rewrite Constitution” here. Linda Jewell wants you to know that there is nothing amiss or gone astray or in any way is wrong about Ecuador and Hugo Chavez's adventurism in Ecuador. Either this woman, herself an unseasoned non diplomat, is horrifically run amuck in the performance of her mission or she has failed in another way to establish any corrective positionings inside Ecuador. Linda Jewell is not a law and order diplomat: she is from the Chris Dodd school of Sorosites who want Uribe gone, want Chavez and Correa's special brand of non democracy and will waste millions to deceive the US tax payers about what they are spending their monies on.

The only one benefiting from Linda Jewell's disinformation about Ecuador's Correa are the massive racketeering and money laundering principles littering Ecuador which is literally lawless now. Jewell also forgets to tell us that Correa has completed his self coup. No one but the most ardent enabler of crime forgets to report that Correa and his so called assembly are now controlling every facet of Ecuador by ruse from Montecristi, where functional media is not welcome. Chavez and Correa's TELESUR are there but no free or fair media. Linda Jewell tells us that the USA loves Correa. The USA does not love Correa and what he does. Linda Jewell needs to have her credentials revoked for non performance on the job and Rafael Correa must be impeached. 

None of Linda Jewell's lies about Ecuador matter except that she gives cover to grand theft of U.S. businesses by the Correa regime, enables more US AID monies to aid and abet the anti Colombia efforts, encourages narcotrafficking by hiding data, and defraud international financial systems.

Linda Jewell may give aid and comfort to the Sorosites littering her activities but she is not the face of the USA. Linda Jewell may love Correa but the world sees him for what he is: a tragically dishonest and disreputably undereducated megalomaniac who has ruinously merged Ecuador with his beloved Cuban communism and Chavez's economic fascism.

Here is what "Linda Jewell" and her well paid Soros-linked minions at the embassy should be reporting:
 
a. the actual number of Venezuelan so called doctors and diplomats across Ecuador...we know that these are Cuban/Stasi trained spies and minders across the Correa regime to keep them in line
 
b. the actual number of narcotics transshipments, drug arrests and seizures by Ecuadorean authorities because the Correa team continues to tell us that because the FARC are their friends, they will never take a position against the FARC; Correa's PLAN ECUADOR, promoted by every Soros backed group littering Ecuador and the U.S. embassy in Quito, is a FARC tool kit for expanding their narcotrafficking from Ecuador which escalates;
 
c. the death of democracy in Ecuador
 
d. the death of free and open media in Ecuador
 
e. the end of free, competitive businesses in Ecuador
 
f. the end of U.S.-Ecuadorean relations based on trust and not on mutual manipulations as is the current case
 
g. unemployment soars, GDP and state revenues are unaccountable, DFI presciently has fled, murder and crime is the highest globally and quality of life/civil society is debauched while none are satisfied with the mobocracy called Montecristi.
 
Linda Jewell has never been honest about Rafael Correa. Instead she tells us that he is highly educated when he is not. Correa's American thesis is publicly available. It is an embarrassment to the U.S. state shopping mall educational system and money stream that pays liars like Correa to gain advanced degrees with doctoral theses that are full of typos, political propaganda and reliance on fake data to prove their so called theses. Correa has been fired from every job he has ever held for lying. He is not welcome at any table except the Chavez-Soros pro drug table of socialists and communists, also called US AID activists and Linda Jewell's love fest, no doubt wishing she could join the fun filled Correa cabinet crooning Che! love songs at Montecristi while offensively praising the great Alfaristas of Shining Path and FARC sisterhood. Linda Jewell offends by refusing to report the facts that Correa and his cabinet are debauched, dishonest and have every intention of destroying Ecuador.
 
Like Chavez in Venezuela, whose operatives enjoy an open wallet for any whim and massive state controls, Ecuador is said to be of no consequence because it does not enjoy Chavez's massive oil income. Ecuador is "not rich" as is Venezuela, so the theory goes, because it does not have Chavez's massive oil income and thus does not matter. And because Correa's Ecuador is not "rich," Correa can do and say anything he likes because his undemocratic actions do not matter. This is crass enabling at best. Ecuador, as ground zero for Chavez's new Bolivarian bloc matters a lot. It matters that Correa escalates his support for the FARC by massive drugs transshipments from Ecuador. It matters that Correa is exporting his own jobless citizenry globally because life inside Ecuador is a disaster. It matters that Correa wastes our time, as does Linda Jewell, to lie a lot about Chavez's regional take over. Both Chavez and Correa completely control their armed forces; a huge propaganda machine globally and domestically across the bureaucracy and  nationalized industries;  and has an entire sub strata of co conspirators called the Boliburguesía (Bolivarian bourgeoisie) of traders grown rich working the rackets of a corrupt system; and the poor who have once again been deceived, not  helped, but stupidly manipulated by Chavez and Correa while Linda Jewell helps their machinations by telling us that this is necessary to "help the poor." The poor are worse off and corruption is the rule of law in Ecuador, if Linda Jewell chose to report the facts.

Bernardo Alvarez is a liar, a menace and a trained misinformation agent for Chavez. He is no diplomat and funnels millions to paid lobbyists, propagandists and any willing to take Chavez's dirty money. The Ecuadorean embassy coordinates with this criminal. This is the face of elections in Venezuela: a communist red bimbette with a black box of pre rigged voter information. Ecuador barely dodged a bullet and disappointed OAS venders hawking these instruments of deception. Belatedly the OAS removed its promotionals for these so called voting machines but did nothing- nothing at all- to apologize or issue retractions for their claims that free, fair, legitimate elections are had and held by these instruments of deception.

VENEZUELA'S CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM

Venezuela has not enjoyed free and fair elections for over 6 years. It will not enjoy an honest election tomorrow. The U.S. Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere at the U.S. State Department really needs to apologize for disinforming the globe that democracy lives in Venezuela when it has not for years. Mr. Shannon, who knows better, needs to reign in his Kool Aid drinking tendencies and return to his own basic tenants of integrity. The Rumsfeld piece is a decent place to begin. Shannon needs to state the facts about the Andes or retire. And take Linda Jewell with him before she embraces again.



Today's JOURNAL is completely correct about Chavez's Venezuelan fraud. It is past time for the United States to stop lying that Chavez's Venezuela is a democracy which it has not been since 2004 at best. In Ecuador as in Venezuela, the Journal is correct that “Former President Jimmy Carter nonetheless blessed that fraud, and the Bush State Department went along too. For their part, Venezuelans have so little faith in an honest vote that they boycotted the 2005 legislative elections; chavista candidates won 100% of the seats.

In 2002 Mr. Chávez also purged the military after it refused to fire on protestors and briefly removed him from power. In that event, Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd rushed to support Mr. Chávez while ignoring the pleas of labor unions, human rights activists and religious leaders that he was abusing his power. Another enthusiastic supporter is Joseph P. Kennedy II, who in exchange for discounts on Venezuelan oil has been promoting the president as a benefactor to America's poor. Despite this help from abroad, Mr. Chávez's popularity at home has been dropping sharply as Venezuelans rebel against this electoral putsch...”

Correa and Chavez have accomplished khaki free self coups of full powers, unaccountability and liberty ending blockades. It is long past time to cease enabling these dictators and abruptly cancel the incessant "help from abroad." Take a real look at what US AID-Soros and Jewell spend U.S. monies on today.

Today, Correa has handed over the control of PetroEcuador to Ecuador's navy not only for the overt bribery to keep the military machinery well greased but to insure transshipments continue unabated. Watch the sea lanes and pay attention to the misspent remilitarization funds called an IDB loan for Correa's military bloc with Chavez and Iran as the free world is shut out. Correa believes that the entire sea lanes between Guayaquil and Mexico should be 1000 miles for suitable his oil and narcotics contraband running.
