On Taking False Comfort from Lying and Manipulating in Ecuador
April 12, 2008 As each and every Ecuadorean madre knows, it is a Cardinal Rule taught to all families that lying, manipulating and pretending that the world can be controlled by 14 year old adolescent behaviors is the precise road map to success. This is not unlike Bolivia's Evo Morales admonishing Bolivians today that they need not aspire to join the real world in this place and in this time. Look at me he says: I have a third grade education and with some luck, I can take dirty money from drug runners, work with the FARC terror groups and take Chavez's controls over Bolivia and call myself president. Morales tells us that no one needs to be educated to do what he does. Indeed. But we remind that Evo Morales probably deserves to be in jail, along with Hugo Chavez and Rafael Correa for their rampant criminality. But we are told that lying and being manipulative in all areas of our lives is what we must do. We find this ethos repulsive and have commented on this numerous times. Nowhere is this better expressed than in the current leadership of Rafael Correa. Today Correa has removed the previously known as small cadre of somewhat professional military and police officers of the security teams with the older, more seasoned FARC enriching cadre from the Lucio Gutierrez era who have successfully sold out their fellow officers for the tender mercies of the Chavez-Correa-DISIP-FARC alliance. He has also replaced his Minister of Defense with...a paid propagandist to cheerfully hide this cartel called the Correa-FARC-Chavez drug running spree. Instead of turning states’ evidence against the Venezuelan-Ecuadorean money making rackets inside these governments, aided and abetted by the military-police, once again the Lucio Gutierrez influence of selling out to the highest bidders is underway. Lucio Gutierrez claims this is "necessary." We disagree. We all know Lucio...and his "insider evidence" is meaningless unless and until he seriously turns states' evidence, otherwise Lucio is simply jockeying once again for favor inside the Chavez-FARC-Correa corridor of criminals. We hold no regard for the ever manipulative Lucio: he knows what he could do but what he does do and is selfishly seek to guard his back while trying to self enrich- again. Lucio is simply a weaker version of the Chavez team running Correa's group.
We reprint in full a real time piece about the Cuban-Venezuelan-Ecuadorean citizens: regular folks from each and every single socio-economic strata today from BABALUBLOG. It says so much about what it is to be of this place and in this time:
Conviction and non-chalance
"Ran out of cigarettes yesterday on my way home from work. I decided to stop at a local gas station that I frequent so I merge into the right traffic lane only to get stuck behind a car that's traveling at a snail's pace. If you all have ever been in a car while Im driving, you know that while Im a curteous driver, I have no patience for folks that drive like idiots or those that drive while white knuckling the steering wheel. Im about to lay into the horn when I realize the driver is an old man. A really old man. So I bite my tongue and bide my time.
As I'm thinking Im finally going to be done with being behind this really slow driving old man because the gas station is just a few hundred feet away, the old man's turn signal comes on. Yep. He's pulling into the same gas station.
It takes him what seems like forever to circle the maze of cars gassing up and park right in front of the gas station. Unfortunately, I have to follow him as I, too, am not interested in gasoline but in cigarettes. I park right next to him, roll up my windows and get out of the car. To my surprise, the slow driving old man is already by the entrance to the gas mart and I meet him there just in time to open the door for him. "Gracias, mijo," he says to me.
"De nada, caballero," I reply.
Once inside, I decide to grab a bottle of water - in case traffic is worse than usual - while the old man heads straight for the newspaper stand. The attendant is chatting away with two young dudes when the old man picks up a copy of El Diario de las Americas and takes the few steps up to the cashier's counter.
The attendant says "Buenas tardes" to the old man and rings him up. The old man echoes the attendant's words then starts to chat away excitedly about some news on the front page of his paper.
I can hear the old man saying stuff like "things are finally starting to change in Cuba," and "the castro's are living on borrowed time." You can tell just by hearing him that the old man is excited about what he's saying. There's a certain relief or happiness to his tone. When I come up next to him with my bottled water, I see he's smiling. "Ya les queda poco," he says.
"Parece," the aloof attendant replies while handing the man his change. The old man grabs his change, pockets it, picks up his Diario and heads towards the door. "Buenas tardes," he says as he struggles a bit getting it open and finally exitting the gas station mart.
No sooner had the old man been out of earshot than the two dudes and the attendant burst into laughter. Young dude number one says "So old and he still thinks he can topple castro." The laughter increases.
I freeze on the spot and literally fight the urge to pummel this guy. I turn around and with what Im sure is an incredulous look on my face ask them where theyre from. Young dude number one says Cuba, young dude two and the attendant say Venezuela. "How long have you all lived here," I ask as I feel a tirade building up inside me.
Big mouth Cuban dude says five years. His young partner says the same and the attendant says seven years. In my mind Im imagining the store all messed up, with fallen shelves and stock all over the floor. The young dudes all beaten to shreds, the attendant out cold behind the counter and me in handcuffs. Im so mad at that moment that I can literally feel my ears and forehead hot.
I bite my toungue as I pay for my water and cigs and grab my change and put it in my wallet. "You know," I calmly say to the three amigos. "If it werent for old men like that paving the way for you and opening doors for you, you guys might not have it so easy."
My comment takes them by surprise. Theyre all doing double takes with each other. "And maybe, just maybe," I say. "If you guys believed in something other than yourselves, something bigger than yourselves, like that old man does, then maybe, just maybe, Cuba and Venezuela wouldnt be so fu_ ked." I grabbed my water bottle and cigs and walked out.
I could hear the laughter as I got back into my car.

This tale is of course about recent Cubans living la vida manipulativa inside the USA. But it is really about Latins who believe and live lives full of a whole commitment to manipulating others and acting selfishly, caring nothing about what went before them nor caring about what happens after their empty hollow lives fail to endear. Believing in something bigger than yourself and acting on it...not finding a way to manipulate life to avoid standing for anything other than the meaningless "I'm for family values" [ itself praiseworthy] but full of empty meaning when the values are as selfish and empty as the laundry list of charitable acts performed with those same "values" which of course shows a list of zero and certainly indicates no adult responsibility for anything meaningful, except incessantly running around while declaring "I'm for family values." . Having it easy, by the hard work of others who did have and hold values...and then selling out those same virtues does truly dishonor the giver of the gifts that went before us that gave us the freedoms- or what is left of them. For sure, what freedoms we have left are vanishing like the night wind over Cotopaxie because...we hold no values and credit nothing, respecting only that which we can manipulate- which is not respect at all: it is using people and society for selfish aims. It does not work. In fact, it is repulsively irresponsible and deceptive and it always gets one in to trouble and worse- delivers the hard hand of Rafael Correa, himself a sociopath...that is a master in the high art of Ecuadorean manipulation. Correa has and holds Ecuadorean family values, too: he lies, he is an empty shell and his life creates harm because it helps no one and nothing outside his small circle of greedy, shallow compadres. His is not a life well lived. We hope he goes away soon and takes his "family values" of the high art of lying and manipulating with him.
Listen again as Miguel Insulza lies like a dog before the U.S. Congress [under oath, which is apparently meaningless to him] here from CNN International. This event was called a "hearing." It was no Hearing: it was a propaganda love fest featuring some of the Chavez-Correa paid puppets such as one of Soros's pet/preferred propagandists named Julia Sweig who never met a Marxist she did not praise and Michael Shifter whose moral and factual relativism has gotten him in to trouble too many times. Insulza denounces the fact that Venezuela and Ecuador under Chavez and Correa are supporting the terror group the FARC. Insulza says that there is "no proof" at all- that they are "supporting terrorist groups" and that there is "no proof." No fact checkers were allowed at this Hearing: no permission granted by Congressman Engle- the soft spoken capo of the pro Chavez/pro FARC actors inside the U.S. government. Had facts been permitted, Insulza would be revealed as a paid political operative who hates the USA and hates truth tellers, hiding always and everywhere behind his special "Chilean" brand of neo socialism, also called never telling the truth.
The fact is this: Insulza lied and has been lying. Ecuador and Venezuela are state sponsors of terror.
Today EL UNIVERSAL in Caracas notes this, "
"We remain willing to cooperate with Hugo Chávez, but he rejects working with the US administration. I know some nations in the European Union have better relations (with the Venezuelan President) and we are trying to see how they can cooperate with us. (...) Recent events suggest an increased traffic of cocaine through Venezuela."
Unites States' anti-drug Czar John Walters
No one- no one at all- can call John Walters a liar- not even Insulza. And when Walters says that the FARC is a terror organization, he speaks the truth. The FARC is not some political or socioeconomic hostage / human rights group. They are terrorists. Anyone who says differently is selling something dishonest.
Then again, most Ecuadoreans are today selling something dishonest and they call this "family values." We remind: lying gets you into trouble. In Ecuador it gets you the world's largest murder rate and still, according to Ecuadorean family values...no one cares as long as they are not the one shot...that day.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives based her previous denial of a vote on Colombia's FTA on the specious story that union members were being mowed down in Colombia. Never mind that the FARC was mowing down indiscriminately anyone else they wanted to gun down or blow up or rape or force in to slavery. Never mind that. But Pelosi had to back peddle on her previous non facts, supplied by Soros's own gang of 24 NGOs, which lied about the fortunes of union members. She instead derailed a free trade vote on the specious concerns that U.S. labor union members are hurt by free trade- also a lie and then inserted that the entire U.S. economy needed a "family concerned" boost. Not that Colombia, whose GDP is a fraction of the USA's or that its FTA has anything whatsoever to do with the sub prime mortgage morass which revealed that offshore derivatives traders made a lot of money betting against lenders' capacity to pay and brought down 1/2 of available capital in the USA without so much as a by your leave. But Pelosi told the world that the Colombia deal needed to fix this- as if the two issues were entwined when they are not. The entire Colombia FTA deal is fought against by the US party of Soros based on lies and fake propaganda. Here is how many see Pelosi: unAmerican, especially for picking the criminal Chavez over the principled Uribe:
:
April 14, 2008 From Investor's Business Daily
And the MIAMI HERALD finally got around to writing that a tiny bit of due diligence- that is reporting on the facts- shows the U.S. labor unions- that is....UN's ILO teams have been lying like dogs about the craven murders of labor unionists in Colombia. Fact checking reveals their open lies which is of course a pay back to Nancy Pelosi of the U.S. Congress in return for labor union support to the U.S. Democrats.
The U.S. Democrats do not need to sell out Uribe's Colombia for money and political votes from the ILO, any other Soros co opted group, or the U.S. Labor unions: the U.S. Democrats are already in the Democrats' pocket and have nowhere else they want to go. It is specious to claim that Pelosi ignores the facts to gain support from the labor unions: she already has it and always will. But what Pelosi has done is to coalesce with liars, ninnyhammers, dimwits and dunces to propel an agenda chock full of lies about Colombia. What Pelosi and her gaggle of goofball staffers and team members need to do is stop altering House Rules and retain the one Rule she refuses to abide by: her Oath of high Office wherein she swears to tell the truth. Pelosi's team refuses to consider the facts. Her partner, Congressman Rangel went so far as to say that where Colombia is concerned, the facts do not matter- only made up non facts- which he calls political rhetoric matters. We assert that politics based on no facts is not politics at all and in no way justifies the lying going on by the U.S. party of Sorosites, who do lie like dogs. What matters is the fundamental commitment to truth telling.
Comes now U.S. Senator Chris Dodd to tell the world that Hugo Chavez is right and that if he, Dodd, is Obama's Secretary of State [a position he is lobbying hard to achieve] he will insure that Latin America gets attention: lots of attention. Dodd's attention includes embracing the murderous regime in Cuba, embracing the murderous regime in Ecuador and Venezuela and rolling out the welcome mat to all Latin nations that are beavering away to enshrine narcostates under one flag: the Bolivarian flag of criminal cartels, also called neo Marxism. We predict that Dodd's Janice, the queen bee of all pro Marxist and pro Castro-Chavez operatives, will return from her busy days, also called retirement, but today hastily boosting the Dodd campaign, to serve as his Chief of Staff at State Department overseeing her minions of liars, ninnyhammers, dimwits and dunces. She is a 500 pound gorilla whose favors once called in are massive. To be sure, Chris Dodd will never be Secretary of State for the USA, a spot he has long coveted. Protests from truth tellers from the USA would be massive, howevermuch Latin truth tellers would do what they do best: go to sleep and do nothing. Already numerous Latinists are being cornered to raise their lobbying voices to install Dodd for Obama's right hand. Whoever stands for Dodd stands against freedoms. Like Pelosi, Chavez stands for "the Chavez Rule" in every sense of the meaning. Anyone who works with Dodd works against truth telling and favors Castro-Chavez and Correa, who are truly state sponsors of terror.
