Ecuador and U.S. Department of Energy Hide Manipulative Andean Oil Traders
May 4, 2008 Venezuela enjoys a massive unregulated profit from the world's oil greed. Ecuador enjoys over 1/2 of its GDP either from unregulated, unaccountable overpriced oil or from stealing whole businesses from North Americans- events when may yet be seen to be one and the same. Concurrently, so too does everyone involved in the Chavez cartel, mostly aligned with Chavez's open, unaccountable PdVSA, also called the government of Venezuela. All first and 2nd tier nations are suffering economically from overblown gas prices. Most third world nations soothe their local souls with gas and oil give aways. Overpriced oil and gas raise the cost of food products and all other manufactured goods, also passed along to the consumer.
In the USA, the WASHINGTON TIMES reports that, “the Federal Trade Commission [FTC] said it will investigate charges that market manipulation contributed to a 24 percent increase in gasoline prices in the past year. The agency will exercise new authority granted by Congress last year to study whether regulations are needed to prevent manipulation, the FTC said Thursday. The first step in a formal "rulemaking process" will be to seek public comments, the agency said. "
That is right- the US FTC will review market manipulation by the oil adventurers, long hidden and never once- not once at all- factually discussed by the appallingly inept- and corrupt- international team of the U.S. Department of Energy who fully abused their high office to protect and defend the spot traders and criminal cartels called the Hugo Chavez cartel of oil manipulators. Not one word is noted about these thugs, currently harming many economies by the incompetent and dishonest U.S. Department of Energy team for "international energy" review. If the facts are to be on the table, first start with the facts- not pro Chavez screed and propaganda. North American incompetence, laziness and more excuse making is no replacement for transparency and rule making. In fact, we strongly suggest that the international team of the U.S. Department of Energy move- permanently- to Caracas, Cuba or Quito and enjoy the fruits of their dishonest labors: certainly they are not needed in a place where law and order is supposed to exist.
While the U.S. Department of Treasury, Commerce Department, the US DEA, the FBI, ONDCP and the Pentagon are active in requisite efforts to tell the facts, the U.S. Department of Energy, US AID and the U.S. Department of State in the Andes- controlled and over run as they are by oil derivatives king pins in tandem with narcostate diplomacy of the illicit and for the illicit, act against each other. This is not what the U.S. Constitution had in mind when it crafted the USA's separation of powers laws. No one- no one at all- anticipated that the heavily overfunded politics of hatred would directly benefit narcotics legalization and off the books oil trading which drives up the cost of crude oil by about 20% and creates a cascade of added life quality restrictions to western nations. By creating and sustaining out of pocket financial drains on western nations, oil speculators- who serve no one but themselves and do not even pay anyone taxes- are sucking the economic and political life blood from once vibrant economies. The avatars of self loathing and political gamesmanship selling hatred for self enrichment call this a good thing: we call it criminal racketeering.
We have reviewed publicly available transcripts from "executives" of the U.S. Department of Energy regarding the western hemisphere over the last four years and find that not one word uttered publicly is useful, relevant, honest or deserving of anything but scorn and job removal. In fact, such enabling of falsification and denial of real time facts and figures to aid and abet global scofflaws and cartels is clearly a huge problem for the USA and all western nations. And that becomes a real problem for 2nd and 3rd tier nations.
As we write this, Rafael Correa is discussed in the LOS ANGELES TIMES, read it here.
The article says, "President Rafael Correa breaks with tradition in overhauling the armed forces' command in the wake of a Colombian incursion...Correa's shake-up comes in a nation where the military enjoys a high measure of autonomy, wields considerable economic and political power and has played a hand in the overthrow of three presidents since 1997." The piece notes that, president Correa's "advantages include enormous popular support, $120-per- barrel oil and the public's fatigue with the old system."
In to this analysis of how the Hugo Chavez-funded, FARC election funded Rafael Correa, himself a sociopath, rose from a known Marxist economic theoretician and a man who has been fired from every job he ever had for lying, manipulating and incompetence to commandeering the entire country and succeeding only because Ecuadoreans are so lazy that they fail to act to self reform and because the world's political leaders are about 1/2 under the pocket of protecting global oil speculators who drive up /double the consumer price of oil today- benefiting GDPs of oil producing states, shows that Correa has done nothing to develop Ecuador but instead has profited from the crimes of others, including his own support for outright theft of other people's companies and money making from narcoterrorism, which Correa calls "helping the poor to make a living."
Rafael Correa is not a leader nor does he have or hold one clue how to manage or run anything. As long as the money keeps rolling in and Ecuadoreans continue to uphold their right to remain addicted as they are to manipulative living, Correa could care less about developing Ecuador. But he is quite ready and complicit with the Cuban-Chavez provided overlords running the day to day government of Ecuador...into the ground.
What the remarkably disingenuously misleading and non-fact checking LATIMES piece forgets to report is that Ecuador has kicked out not only American businesses, refuses to uphold international norms such as contract law, intellectual property rights, due process, transparency and so on but also that Ecuador has booted any U.S. technical support or even military support. Ecuadoreans call this respect for sovereign rule of law: we call it dishonest disrespect for everything in a land where no one is honest or leading meaningful lives any more. Reading more like talking points from the overpaid propagandists for the Soros team as well as the Correa-Chavez team to deliver a more perfect narcounion in the Andes called Foley Hogg's Paul Reichler of pro Sandanista and Aristide fame but also Fenton Communications, itself quite busy these days helping MOVEON.org, DAILYKos and the assorted Soros team political hacks sell a lot of political propaganda and anti USA hatred.
Today Ecuador is removing/stealing [ also called the under-reported governmental committing of unconstitutional caducidad] from the unappealing Carlos Slim's America MOVIL Mexican based telecom currently delivering decent, competitively priced cellular services. We can all predict just who Correa's unaccountable opaque deal-making cabal -cartel has in mind to replace the MOVIL cellular business by any other name.
But understand this: the same paid propaganda and legal team that helped Haiti into the subhuman place where everything is nothing, today represents Ecuador in its haste to replicate the dead zone that is Haiti. Ecuador hired this team not for its dazzling reputation as assisting truth telling and development for Ecuador but its proven track record for lying and manipulating. Ecuadoreans call this family values. We call it criminal. Why anyone, including the U.S. Senate's Carl Meacham and assorted naive and non-due diligence performing actors from the OAS and US AID funded miscreants accept the Reichler tales of the glories of Aristide's Haiti , Rafael Correa, Hugo Chavez, the FARC and the communist Sandinistas is incomprehensible but accept their propaganda whole cloth they do. Here is a story of how these thugs operate:
The Wall Street Journal

FCC Confidential
May 3, 2008; Page A10
One of our jobs is to dig into the often dubious link between government power and private profit. So allow us to update the tale of Haiti, two U.S. telephone companies and American politicians.
The story starts with the discovery by the Federal Communications Commission in 2006 that its file containing long-distance contracts between U.S. telephone companies and the Haitian government was missing. That's odd enough, and so the FCC asked all carriers to resubmit copies to restore the record.
Our Mary O'Grady then filed a Freedom of Information Act request to see those records. One company appealed for confidentiality: Fusion Telecom, a New York-based company that did a robust business with the Haitian telecom monopoly in the 1990s and early this decade. The FCC says it is considering our FOIA request, but can't say when it might rule and has met with Fusion about our request.
Our interest in this story goes back to the time Jean Bertrand Aristide was running Haiti – either as president or behind the throne – from October 1994 to February 2004. Long-distance revenues were one of the country's few sources of hard currency. Yet after Mr. Aristide left power, the coffers at Teleco Haiti were found to be empty.
More than a few Haitians would like to know what happened to the money.
At least some of it was directed to an offshore account. We learned that much when a New Jersey-based company called IDT coughed up its long distance agreement with Haiti, after we filed a previous FOIA. The IDT contract shows that when the official settlement rate of the monopoly was 23-cents per minute, IDT had access to the Haitian network at a rate of 8.75 cents per minute. Under FCC regulations at the time, IDT was entitled to negotiate a better rate than the official 23-cent rate. But it had to make that rate public and all other carriers would then get to pay the same rate.
Strangely, however, IDT did not file its contract at the FCC in 2003 when it began doing business in Haiti. It also kept secret that it was making its payments to an offshore account in the Turks and Caicos instead of to Teleco Haiti.
These facts became known thanks to former IDT employee Michael Jewett, who says he was told that the offshore account belonged to Mr. Aristide. He says he was fired in 2003 when he objected to the scheme. In 2004 Mr. Jewett filed a wrongful dismissal suit in New Jersey federal court. IDT denied the charge and called him a disgruntled employee, but the contracts have vindicated him on the facts of the discounted rate and the IDT payments to an offshore account. His suit is still pending.
Fusion Telecom had a separate contract with Teleco Haiti over a longer period. Fusion's CEO is Marvin Rosen, who was finance chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the 1996 Clinton fund-raising scandals.
Fusion's board of directors in the past has included Joseph P. Kennedy II and Thomas "Mack" McLarty, Bill Clinton's Latin American envoy and White House chief of staff. These Democrats knew Mr. Aristide well following Bill Clinton's use of U.S. troops to return the Haitian to power in 1994 after he had been removed in a coup.
We'd expect a company with such a pedigree to follow the law in doing business with Mr. Aristide. Certainly, it should set a transparent example for a country where corruption is all too common. So it is passing strange that Fusion is fighting so hard to keep its public contracts a secret from the public.
After the Haiti file vanished from the FCC records room, Fusion told the commission that many of its original documents were destroyed by Hurricane Wilma in October 2005. But the company said it was confident it could "produce copies of all documents requested." Fusion later came up with a 1999 contract, which it now argues is no longer a matter of public record because Haiti is no longer regulated as a monopoly market.
If there's nothing to hide, why hide the contract? This should be an easy call for FCC Chairman Kevin Martin.
---------
WHO do you suppose simply destroyed the US FCC's records which might incriminate the telecom price fixing rackets in Aristide's Haiti and spent years covering this up for the pro criminal Haitian team? We do not know- we can guess however. What we do know is that Haiti's deal maker in chief is now the Soros-Chavez-Correa deal maker in chief. Apparently, many in the U.S. government welcome this dishonest cabal even as we reject their lies and propaganda.
No one likes to expose and reveal corrupt North Americans from the Clinton team who also drove Cynthia Viteri's pathetic campaign to represent legitimate USA-Ecuadorean ties in her failed presidential bid. Viteri revealed his irresponsible naivete by succumbing to this illicit pressure to hire a Clintonite, no doubt stemming from the Correa-embracing Clintonite ambassador of the Chris Dodd family service entities Linda Jewell, who is not "linda" and is on her way out- not a moment too soon. It is inconceivable why a pro USA candidate would hire anyone from the US democrats to do anything helpful to Ecuador, reprehensibly barring free trade, transparency, law and order plus accountability as their actors to perpetrate, also called the Soros minions of mischief funded by U.S. Democrats and co allies in instability and opacity. The LATIMES piece does tell us that Correa is massively expanding Ecuador's attack capabilities. "The March 1 incursion by Colombian forces to kill the No. 2 commander of the rebel Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, Raul Reyes, called Ecuador's military readiness into question. So Correa has ordered the $200-million purchase of 24 Super Tucano aircraft from Brazil, plus a new radar system to better secure his borders.
The actions reflect Correa's frustration with a military that at times seems to be working at cross purposes with his government.
Hours after Colombian army units killed Reyes, Correa ordered his army to arrest the 20 or so Colombian soldiers who remained behind to secure the jungle campsite. But someone in Ecuador's armed forces apparently leaked word of the order, and by the time army units showed up that afternoon, the Colombians were gone, Carvajal said. Two weeks later, Ecuador's army brass knew that one of the 24 people killed in the Colombian raid was an Ecuadorean who had acted as local fixer for the rebels and had been tracked by military investigators for several years. Ecuadorean officers gave the information to Colombia but apparently not to Correa, who said he found out about it from the newspapers. Such lapses, combined with the fact that Correa had no idea his country had been invaded until Colombian President Alvaro Uribe told him by telephone hours later, pushed Ecuador's leader to shake up the command."
What the LATIMES article refuses to grasp is the base line fact that neither the military complex of Ecuador nor the Correa government is today accountable or legitimate and is fully dishonest. Stupidly, the LATIMES writer believes whole cloth the myth that Correa was innocent of any knowledge that he himself had conspired with the FARC- for financial benefit- to prove multi-year protection rackets for the FARC plantation inside Ecuador. The criminal driver and tour guide to the Reyes multi acre permanent plantation home- and scene of his last great party on February 29, 2008- was well known to Ecuador's military and of course the Correa cabinet- called Correa's cabal. The premise of this article is a lie: Correa did not shake up his military to better serve the legitimate protection of the people of Ecuador against narcoterrorists but to ring down the iron curtain that the military and police will act in lock step with Correa's cabal to increase their extant cover ups and propaganda to tell the world that their hands are clean, as Correa proudly explains, when they are so dirty that no doubt blood poisoning from the viral infection of dishonesty and corruption will soon set in.
The article continues, "Unlike some nations' constitutions that limit the armed forces to defending the homeland from external threats, Ecuador's charges the armed forces with maintaining internal security. Moreover, the military is the only government entity that gathers intelligence, said Garcia, the professor.
The Ecuadorean armed forces also have a formidable economic presence through their ownership of a fleet of oil tankers, the Tame airline, tourism companies, dairy farms, hotels, shrimp boats and a number of other assets.
That economic power is sometimes used to bend politicians and businessmen to their will through favors and bribes, sources said. “Glaringly omitted is the income derived from governmental profiteering to the military for running PetroEcuador- ie., Ecuador's chief source of income, foolishly ignored as Correa's team trots out small flower growers and tiny textile manufacturers to dishonestly claim these to be the majority of income producing open trade avatars in this land where nothing is honest and all are either liars for Correa or soon to be liars and manipulators by national values. In other words, Ecuador is a nation of liars, pimps and manipulators. This makes one and all feel very good about their dishonest state, further fueling the insincere and dishonest common cause of criminal cartels. Ecuadoreans call this "patriotism" and are even exporting this fervent patriotism of selfishness and dishonesty to the United States, calling it patriotic sympathies with the USA. We call it the new epidemic which must be stopped for it is as unwelcome as Satan at a Sunday dinner. But Ecuadoreans would proudly welcome any and all manipulative double dealers to Sunday lunch and never turn away from any opportunity to lie and manipulate some more. It is a national addiction and a disgrace.
For its part, the USA is about to send yet another new lady ambassador to Quito, following a 10 year string of failed ambassadorial females with one exception- the remarkably Clintonean male ambassador who gleefully set about to impregnate Ecuadorean females who boasted of their intimacies with this creep and with another cretin called Lucio Guutierrez. This is of course a waste of time and money. There is no one to negotiate with and nothing to be gained from diplomatic relationships in this land gone criminal. A far better expenditure would be serious psychiatrists to deal with the massive mental pathology that are Ecuadoreans and who, to their unending shame, refuse to treat their own. Even more important would be the installation of truth tellers and advocates of law and order, not the replay of more and more enablers of criminal cartels as has been the case.
Claiming that diplomacy can be had inside Ecuador is a fools errand and debases diplomacy which depends of course on a sovereign state functioning under law, which does not exist in Ecuador this year- or next. Ecuador is merely a colony of Cuba and Venezuela, run as it is by DISIP and Cuban intelligence handlers under the careful eye of Sr. Pastor, himself an old school hard line red who long ago wrote Ecuador's "constitution" and is just running out the clock until September as the illegal, overpaid so called assembly, total kangaroos to the Chavez-Correa narcostate as they always have been since the first hour on the job, debates their own navel and right to orgasm.
Anyone who tells you that Ecuador, like Venezuela is a real government and can be taken seriously is ...a liar. This is not unlike current efforts to treat terror groups as legitimate political groups, claiming the FARC as irregulars. Obama and Insulza's paid advocate in this deceptive gambit it Bill Richardson, himself questionable as to who and what is paying for his flurry of trips to the Andes, read about it here.
The author notes:
Further, the piece says, "Today Richardson presses on undeterred in Caracas, expecting all possible good from evil men...The problem with this fracas in Caracas is that our allies in Colombia's government are already negotiating for the release of the hostages, and didn't really want Richardson involving Chavez in the process. But such concerns never deter the Armchair Diplomat brigade. These go-getters just know they're better qualified than American diplomats -- or Colombian diplomats -- to negotiate with America's adversaries...In this respect, he has allied himself with the ideal candidate in Barack Obama, who has famously declared his willingness to negotiate personally with tyrants such as Iran's Ahmedinejad -- perhaps trusting in his own sincerity or the force of his personality to melt the hearts of terror-abetting dictators. (This hubris was noted even by the FARC -- a message on one of their leader's laptops recovered by the Colombian military expressed their delight at the prospect of an Obama presidency.)...Personal magnetism and earnestness may have served Obama well in Illinois politics, but he lacks the experience of dealing with America's hardened enemies abroad. Richardson, burned by the Taliban, betrayed by the North Koreans, has no such excuse.
The question of negotiation is an interesting one. IBD rightly wonders what Richardson laid on the table to enlist Chavez's help: `Such disrespect for Colombia raises questions about the governor's judgment and, worse still, what he might have offered Chavez and FARC in behalf of a future U.S. Administration.' "
Again we ask: what did Richardson offer Hugo Chavez and what was his message and how much did Richardson pledge privately to aid and abet Chavez under an Obama team counsel and who paid for this?
Today under the incompetent and corrupt Correa, Ecuador is nothing more than ballast for Chavez, Cuba and Iran...global cartels of crime. Like locusts which criminally take and take with no thought as to how to develop and sustain, these criminal cartels and their mouth organ-propagandists debase and denigrate nations such as Haiti, Venezuela and Ecuador. Having laid bare the human quality of life, they move on... like locusts. The same perps are at play in the Andes today. We can hope that the WALL STREET JOURNAL continues in its role as truth teller and leader in investigative journalism because we know with a certainty that the U.S. Democratic Party, all the Soros cartel advocates [using non profit tax free status] also called US AID and the U.S. Department of Energy's Western hemisphere non reporting team [also called US AID theoreticians, infiltrators, and operatives] will help no one but their dishonest inner group, as is the case in Haiti, Venezuela and Ecuador: all failed and failing nations where the locusts moved in and when the glare of transparency got a little too bright, moved on.
Carlos Alberto Montaner recently wrote, "On a scale of one to 10, where 10 is the most honest and one the most corrupt, the Paraguayans suffer a corruption index of 2.4. In Latin America, more rotted than Paraguay are only Ecuador (2.1) and Hugo Chávez's Venezuela (2.0), which is Ali Baba's den with 40,000 thieves who have exchanged their camels for Hummers...In reality, all analyses agree on the same melancholy diagnosis. .. no accounts are rendered, justice does not work and the quality of official management and public policies is pitiful. The result? Total divorce between society and state."
Society and state remain disconnected because the individual is disconnected- selfishly undereducated and manipulatively self serving while doing nothing. The state dysfunction mirrors the personal dysfunction. If the state is cold and has no real meaningfulness, it is because we ourselves are cold and hold no purpose outside self serving small acts. The debauched and dishonest Correa state mimics debauched and dishonest personal states.
Ecuadoreans hide from their responsibility to themselves, their families and their nation by pretending that if they only hide behind their gated walls and condo corridors, pretending that eating at restaurants and shopping and cell phone chatting describe a rewarding, meaningful life, while dishonestly ignoring their own self imprisonment; do their real families a grave dis-service. Ecuadoreans disingenuously either run away from personal responsibility or lie a lot about this, claiming that they could not possibly do anything meaningful because it is all someone else's fault. Depositing funds offshore in someone else's bank to pretend that this rewards family values of doing nothing except money transfers out of Ecuador is not an honest, responsible function of a healthy society which must always and everywhere stay engaged. To stay dysfunctionally frightened, nervous, manipulative and hidden behind self justifications is a psychological illness rampant today in Venezuela and Ecuador. Pretending that hypochondria and nervousness is the main function of a dishonest life lived on the manipulative scam is unbearably naive and has gotten Ecuador in 3 short years known for what Ecuadoreans have become and are yet: dishonest, manipulative do-nothings who care nothing about anything except shallow, vapid lives which exhibit no warmth, no plans for the future and no vibrancy in the wasteland of their manipulative desert. It certainly has placed Ecuador rapidly in a place even more discredited than Paraguay and almost identical to the ruinous, dishonest Venezuela where everything is nothing and dishonesty reigns supreme. Worse: it has made Ecuador the murder capitol of the world. Ecuadoreans do not care...as long as they can dizzyingly ram around in their road rage week end warrior 4 x 4s and pretend that eating out a lot is a rewarding life. To be meaningful, one must actually do something meaningful and stop lying about one's unwillingness to do anything meaningful at all. Ecuadoreans fear meaningfulness more than anything because this might mean they might have to give up their addiction to la vida manipulativa and actually be accountable in their lives for doing something more than being lazy and spending someone else's money.
Ecuadoreans today claim that they must hide from the Rafael Correa horrors of their failed nation. This too is dishonest: they repulsively hide from themselves and from growing up. Ecuadoreans in full- government and private individuals are all repulsive today.
