U.S. Democrats Helping Chavez & Correa Help the FARC to Hurt Hostage Release

June 7, 2008   Rafael Correa and Hugo Chavez never had any serious intentions of "humanitarian hostage" relief for the estimated over 1,200 hostages held by the FARC. The public chatter about "helping the poor hostages" is as hollow as anything else this duo cooks up and about as meaningful as feathers on a fly. Rafael Correa and Hugo Chavez were cruelly never invested in so called hostage release and only used the entire matter as a ploy, a decoy, a trick- a manipulative lie to cover up what they are really doing about the FARC which is of course aiding and abetting the FARC while lying to the world about what really happens.

This week saw a few extraordinary examples of meddling in foreign affairs for political advantage to aid and abet the Soros-backed Barack Hussein Obama. the avatar of the Soros narcozone in the Andes, sometimes called VP of the Inter American Dialogue which takes money from US AID and the US Democratic Party wing of the Soros adventures, writes in EL TIEMPO a phony analysis of McCain and Obama as US candidates to aid and abet the confusion in Latin America that Obama will be their friend and we have nothing to worry about. Meanwhile, the LOS ANGELES TIMES  parrots Venezuela's old time Marxists and tells us  all that we have nothing to fear from Hugo Chavez and that the USA's best course of action regarding Chavez is HANDS OFF! DO NOTHING! SAY NOTHING! because, as the newspaper purports, Chavez's dictatorship is nothing but the rantings of a paranoid and delusional freak who has total power over a one half trillion dollar oil budget and is a raving madman that we had all best ignore because Chavez has successfully ended all of democracy's tenants in Venezuela and seeks to do more for other nations to help them join his end of liberty plans. But that newspaper misses the entire point of it all: no dictator's place of power should be deemed a democracy and no dictator who is in bed with criminal cartels plus Iran gets to avoid being known and prosecuted for what he does just because he or she is an angry screeching unhappy manipulative person. We are not buying the theory that manipulative and devious persons are best ignored and that we had all better "give in" and enable their tirades, however childish, however delusional just to shut them up. We know where this leads: it is the elephant in the living room and there is no benefit dancing around such an unhappy and dysfunctional situation. There is no social contract with these manipulatives and nothing meaningful because it is all about them and their demands and is never about any serious flexibility or integrity. That is the point.

And like all the Michael Shifters of the world, far too many want you and me to believe that Chavez is only paranoid and delusional because the USA created his delusions and made it worse. We have heard this before, even from Barack Hussein Obama who tells us that the USA created the monster that is the illicit and disgusting Iranian regime because the USA stands for freedom and Iran does not. The illogic of the HATE AMERICA FIRST platform of Obama and all the Michael Shifter types build a false reality that is manipulative and enables the essential deviousness of the matter. Chavez is a problem because Chavez is the problem. This is no one's fault but Hugo Chavez's and his minions and certainly not the fault of the USA. The USA has much to be blamed for with regard to its Andean approach, mostly stemming from its refusal to be honest about the criminal wonderlust of Chavez and Correa while telling us all that democracy lives in Ecuador and Venezuela when it does not and has not for quite some time. What the USA has done is to pour millions of US dollars in to the region to help lie some more and cover up the glaring dishonesty and criminal activities of the Chavez and Correa take over. This needs to stop. And Ecuadoreans and Venezuelans need to demand that this stop plus take back their own nations for the good of their own lives. Real friends do not lie about their friends and real friends do not help their friends to continue to act dishonestly and to disregard life's obligations. The USA could be a better friend to the Andes but its own State Department operatives are so busy appeasing crime that they failed themselves and failed others, just as all Ecuadoreans fail themselves and each community today.

We are told that US blunders and ham handed diplomacy has forced Chavez to react with a massive aggressive military build up, way in excess of the reported $4 billion he is known to have spent because of course no one knows anything about Chavez's budgets because Chavez is dishonest. What we do know is that his defense build up is probably closer to $20 billion and this has nothing to do with the USA and has everything to do with Chavez's extraterritorial expansion plans.

The USA did not create Chavez's psychoses any more than the USA created Rafael Correa's psychoses. The USA does help Chavez and Correa by never stating the facts about these monsters in the living room and has enabled their growing disease by pretending that giving in to these tyrants will help them calm down and get better. This is not diplomacy but it is stupid.  This ignore the tyrant in your living room theory never works and is a foolish treatment plan. We have advised here before: send Correa and Chavez to Uribe's Treatment facilities for the criminally confused. Send their Cabinets also and a few Iranian and Cuban agents as well: there are thousands of them crawling all over Ecuador and Venezuela now.

And before you dash off disagreeing with us, feel free to review the deceptive abuse of innocent victims held longer by the FARC and co conspired for their abuse with Chavez and Correa's help the FARC to Manipulate their Crime Plan by abusing the hostages Some More efforts currently underway by these masters of deceit. The WALL STREET JOURNAL here helps lay out this utter fraud, deceit and horrifying manipulation of all around us in Ecuador and Venezuela...the monster in your own living room have not self reformed...you just help them keep right on going. Enabling does not help.

Deception and manipulative behavior rarely gets better on its own and always needs clear, moral thinking to restore integrity. It is never bettered by silence, avoidance or enabling. The JOURNAL reports that "All but about 40 of its hostages [held by the FARC] are held for ransom. The rest include Ms. Betancourt, three U.S. defense contractors abducted in 2001, and Colombian policemen, soldiers and politicians whom the rebels consider prizes of war to be deployed to strategic advantage. After the attack on Mr. Reyes, the Colombian police recovered several of his laptop computers, gaining an unprecedented look inside the secretive rebel group. It is clear from messages, many viewed by The Wall Street Journal, that the hostages -- Ms. Betancourt in particular -- are pawns in a complex political game played out by the FARC and Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez against Colombia's President Álvaro Uribe.

Numerous emails reveal that the FARC and Mr. Chávez agreed to use the selective release of hostages, a handful of whom were let go earlier this year, to better the international image of the FARC, which is considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. and European Union. Mr. Chávez then planned to exert diplomatic pressure to get governments allied with him, such as Ecuador and Nicaragua, to grant the group diplomatic recognition -- a move that, if followed by other countries in the region, would undermine the Colombian government's offensive against the FARC...Equally clear from the emails is that if there is any hostage release, Ms. Betancourt -- and the three Americans -- will be the last ones let out of the jungle. `We told Chávez that if we released her, we would have no other cards to play,' Mr. Márquez wrote to the [FARC] Secretariat in December."

Are you listening here? These state sponsors of lies and manipulations continue to use and abuse everyone around them for their own selfish, manipulative purposes, never mind that all other human beings are simply collateral damage for their criminal ends. This is true evil to pretend that it is not evil to view all human beings simply as something to be manipulated and that life is merely in existence for each of us to manipulate and control. Human beings are not simply collateral damage- to be discarded after we have used them up to satisfy some usage we have cooked up. Every Ecuadorean is now taught this from birth that there is no higher purpose in life than to manipulate others and self justify all selfish acts for...what do they call it-? more money. Anyone who simply questions this unending greed is called pushy or one who "simply  does not understand the Andean ways." Understanding the Andean ways is in no way a Free Pass for Approving this deviancy and manipulative rationale. And it certainly does explain the nexus of the sustained denial of Ecuadorean and Venezuelan criminality which is rampant and overblown today. It all started, just as it did in Lebanon, because each of us was so consumed with selfishness that we abandoned core values in our unending greed and laziness, enshrining deviancy which always follows after full enabling. What was repulsive is now deviantly criminal. And anyone who tells you differently- or advises you to shut up/keep hands off! is a liar.

By enabling Chavez and Correa to continue their crime spree, you have aided, abetted and enabled prolonged suffering for the FARC hostages. You are responsible for this because you refuse to even open your mouth about the crass evil underway to manipulate even the FARC hostages.

Of course you will say- oh, there is nothing I can do about this. I cannot even stop letting my own family manipulate our lives and spend someone else's money while they do nothing themselves that is functional or rewarding. To this we say: grow up. To this we say: stand for something of meaning and value or be known today as enablers of crime and evil so deep and so wide that the mind reels.

Making matters worse, Chavez and Correa lie to the families of the victims, as all manipulators do: "Trying to win her daughter's freedom, Yolanda Pulecio, Ms. Betancourt's mother, has traveled often to Caracas to meet with Mr. Chávez and appeal for her daughter's release. She has also appeared on television with the Venezuelan president, whom many Colombians despise because of his close ties with the FARC. In her elegant apartment overlooking Bogotá, Ms. Pulecio said she believes Mr. Chávez has her daughter's best interests at heart. `I haven't been fooled by him,' she said. `Once I was next to him when he made a public call in front of many journalists for [FARC chief] Marulanda not to leave Ingrid in the condition she is.'...Ms. Pulecio worries constantly that the government will try to rescue Ms. Betancourt and the other captives, leading guerrillas to kill them. Last year, the guerrillas, mistaking another approaching FARC unit for a rival band of guerrillas, turned their guns on their captives, killing 11 kidnapped state congressmen. She smolders with anger at Mr. Uribe's government over its refusal to negotiate. ‘Ingrid is caught between two inhumane forces: the guerrillas and Uribe,' she said." Ingrid Bettancourt's mother is so passive-aggressive that she actually blames Uribe for the state of disaster her daughter lives under and believes the lies and manipulations of the very ones who have kept too many hostages abused for too long across a wide swath of Venezuela, Ecuador and Colombia.

And Ingrid Betancourt's mother reminds us again why professional hostage negotiators are currently working very hard to secure the release of hostages held by the FARC and why addicted to manipulative behaviors persons such as Ms. Betancourt's mother are not helpful and are not honest, however much we admire their tenacity and love for their children. Ingrid Betancourt is held hostage because Hugo Chavez and Rafael Correa have conspired with the FARC to prolong their suffering to gain political advantage and some mythical and devious plan to demand the release of more FARC prisoners held in the USA for their massive crimes. As US Speak r of the House's favorite FARC moll [ and supported by the Soros pro FARC foot soldiers with Chavez's minions]  Piedad Cordoba continues to say, along with Betancourt's mother, all this is George Bush's fault because he will not release the murderous thugs from the US prisons to enable the FARC to reform their advantage. Giving in little by little to these deviants helps nothing but the spread of more deviancy.

Here is Ingrid Betancourt doing what her manipulative mother taught her to do so well: manipulate the public...a few weeks before she was taken in by the FARC....she is passing out free VIAGRA to build her political fortunes:
We advise that you take your head out of the sand and stop enabling criminals and manipulators. It has cost you your reputation and your integrity.

Here is what your enabling has helped: a conspiracy of deceptions so reprehensible that the mind reels....the FARC with Chavez and Correa, and all who enable them, conspired to prolong human suffering to use their victims to sustain their reign of deception and manipulations. Excerpts: The FARC's Correspondence
On the Captive Ingrid Betancourt
'If we released her, we'd have no more cards to play'
June 6, 2008 9:51 p.m.
Emails found in the computers of Raul Reyes -- the No. 2 member of the FARC who was killed in a Colombian military strike on March 1 -- detail talks between Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and the FARC to use the release of hostages to win the rebel group diplomatic recognition and force Colombian President Alvaro Uribe to halt his military offensive against the group. In the emails, Mr. Chavez appears to offer the group guns and money, and the FARC talks about eventually overthrowing the Colombian government.

The FARC says it hopes the process of negotiating the release of hostages will pressure Mr. Uribe to clear out a Manhattan-sized area in southeast Colombia called the "Yari," where the group could meet with Mr. Chavez and other world leaders and get de-facto recognition.

Below are excerpts from the emails.

'Not an isolated force without hope' -- Jan. 11 2007
Manuel Marulanda, the late head of the FARC who dies of a heart attack in March, wrote to the FARC secretariat:
[Chavez's] doubt about whether we are capable of taking power through force of arms against the military power of Uribe with the support of the gringos is natural. But we should make him understand that this is about creating a great revolutionary army with the support of the masses to overthrow the capitalist system and install socialism, so that no matter how small we seem, we are headed to a great future, and they must believe us, because we are not an isolated force without hope, and that we will use every available means at our reach.
'Chavez reacted well to our petition' -- Nov. 12, 2007

In this email, the FARC's main contacts with Mr. Chavez -- Ivan Marquez, a member of the FARC's seven-man secretariat, and Ricardo Granda -- summarize for Mr. Marulanda and other members the results of a meeting with Venezuela's President Chavez in Miraflores, the presidential palace in Caracas.

Comrade Manuel [Marulanda], comrades in the secretariat,

Cordial greetings. I'll quickly summarize the results from the two meetings I had with President Chavez in Miraflores:

1. He approved completely and without blinking our request (300). [Colombian authorities believe the 300 in parentheses refers to a request for $300 million.]

2. In relation to the hostage swap, he suggested a slight change in our strategy that I'll explain in point 3. Right now… he's eager for a Marulanda-Chavez meeting [to negotiate further hostage releases] in the Yari. To achieve this, he thinks his upcoming meeting on Nov. 20 with [French President Nicolas] Sarkozy is crucial. [Chavez] will need the 'proofs of life' that Marulanda ordered. With them, he can approach Sarkozy. Chavez is sure that it will convince Sarkozy to pressure Bush to order [Colombian President Alvaro] Uribe to agree to the meeting.

Chavez is sure that by meeting Marulanda they'll agree on a formula to release the hostages. When he told Sarkozy about his determination, he nearly jumped out of his chair to say he'd also like to go to the meeting with Marulanda. Chavez is very excited.

We need each other mutually. The meeting at Yari will give Chavez and the FARC a continental and global projection.

3. If we can't set up a meeting at Yari with comrade Marulanda and Chavez, Chavez suggests the following:
a) That we make a unilateral release, for instance, of the women (without Ingrid). I think there are just two, the woman from Huila and Clara and her son. We could also throw in some sick ones.

b) That once he receives the prisoners he will declare a safety corridor between the Venezuelan and Colombian border, where spokesmen from each side can sit to negotiate a deal.
c) Chavez reacted well to our petition that he grant us recognition, and that he "lobby" Ecuador, Bolivia, Nicaragua and Argentina to do it, too. These are countries that already informally recognize us as political actors. He will also pitch it to Sarkozy and Spain, countries that have us on the terrorist list. With Switzerland there is no problem. He will also seek for the non-aligned countries to do likewise. Once we achieve this, we open the doors for the FARC representation in all these countries.
[…]
12. There was a great empathy with Chavez. I think we raised his esteem for the FARC…. Chavez feels that we are soon to see the rebirth of the Great Colombia [Gran Colombia was the name of a short lived republic in the early 1800s that included what is today Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Panama, as well as parts of Peru and Brazil. Mr. Chavez has often said he would like to unite these areas again, presumably under his leadership].

'Chavez doesn't want to be taken out of the game' -- Nov. 23, 2007
In this message, Messrs. Marquez and Granda evaluate political strategies to pursue diplomatic recognition.
Comrades of the Secretariat:
A cordial hello. Reacting to the situation given Uribe's perversity, we suggest:
1. Make official in a public communiqué, Comrade Manuel's [Marulanda's] proposal.
2. Present it as a humanitarian gesture of the FARC in contrast to the stubborn intransigence of Mr. Uribe.
[…]
4. Petition the countries that manifest their agreement with this initiative that they exclude the FARC from their list of terrorist groups and the acceptance by each one of them of our respective diplomatic missions. It would be a demolishing international blow against the Uribe regime. If he rejects it, as it is almost certain, we lose nothing and in exchange, Uribe would be stuck with isolation and international pressure.
[…]
6. Chavez doesn't want to be taken out of the game, and that's why he is insisting on the proofs of life. We never told him we'd deliver by a certain date. He wanted them before his meeting with Sarkozy and now he wants them before December 2 [that day, Mr. Chavez narrowly lost a national referendum that would have allowed him to seek unlimited re-election], although we have told him that it could not be before the second half of December. Yesterday he urged us again through his delegate…
7) We would win a lot for us if we could give him Clara Rojas, the child, and the lady from Huila.
A fraternal embrace,
Ricardo and Ivan.

Last card -- Dec. 23, 2007
In this message, Messrs. Marquez and Granda inform the FARC leaders about President Chavez's quest about Ms. Betancourt's release.
[Chavez] also asked about Ingrid, but we told him that if we released her, we'd have no more cards to play.
'Delivery' -- Jan. 14 2008
Jorge Briceño, aka Mono Jojoy, the FARC's much feared top military commander, wrote to the FARC secretariat about transportation of, presumably, money and weapons promised by President Chavez.
Who, where, when and how are we going to receive the dollars and the rest?
We should determine what materiel we need, the quantity, price, transport, routes, drop-off and pick-up points, buyers, sellers, and technicians.
If they donate merchandise, we should make sure we ask that is useful and can be used in irregular guerrilla warfare. We shouldn't, without losing our manners, stop insisting on what was promised.
The recognition of the FARC-EP as a belligerent force by the Venezuelan leader, and his invitation to the other countries to exclude us from the terrorist list, is going to force us to be more careful in our contacts with him….
We should keep insisting on the Yari area to be cleared for the meeting between Marulanda and Chavez, so that we can express our views. When we do this, Uribe and his friend to the north [Bush] will get more isolated.
The delivery by President Chavez of the two prisoners of war, so as not to use that word 'hostages,' got global media attention ….
'Contadora Group' -- Feb. 8 2008
In this email, Messrs. Marquez and Granda inform the FARC leaders about Venezuelan President Chavez's intention to create a "Contadora Group," referring to a 1980s attempt by Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Panama to find peace in Central America.
President Chavez wants to ask comrade Manuel the following:
a) He is willing to receive in Venezuelan territory the 47 prisoners in our power and the 500 guerrillas held by the regime. The three Americans would be there only if the (Americans) delivered Sonia and Simon [two FARC commanders serving prison terms in the U.S.]
b) Once we accept, he makes a call to all Latin American nations to back the initiative, which will create great pressure on Uribe [to accept clearing out the Yari area].
c) He wants to create a kind of "Contadora Group." This group would work for our recognition as a belligerent force and would work for a peace deal in Colombia. In this group would be Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua. Also welcome would be France, Switzerland, and Spain. No priests. Of course, the FARC would be invited to the meetings, which would be a de facto recognition of us.

If you are not repulsed and if you continue to make excuses for co enabling more manipulations, you really should stop reading ECrisis and go directly to psychological rehab. You are not fit to be among the public.

Understand this: your passive aggressive enabling has caused great suffering, not just inside your schools, your churches, your homes and communities but for innocent victims of crime. Your failure to stand for anything except personal manipulative behaviors has sustained more suffering. It is past time to request that Chavez and Correa go, for they need to go. And take your addiction to manipulative, selfish living with them. If you cannot see this evil for what it is- prolonging deception and encouraging ennui and sloth- go directly to Uribe's rehabs for the dazed, confused and manipulated....because you need help.

-Pedro Camargo for ECrisis
