Correa Slams Door on the USA

September 19, 2008    Of all the lies and manipulations that the excessively dishonest, discredited and disgusting Rafael Correa has delivered, his primary whopper, in a growing field of debilitating whoppers, is his claim that he is an ally of the USA. Of course the USA's last ambassador to Ecuador lied about this friendship a lot also. But Correa himself is the perp and perpetuating this lie is what he pays his deceptive propagandists and lobbyists to do... a lot. So far, Correa's criminal extortion racket cartel is paying off. Correa, who despises the USA and all it stands for, is a massive liar about all this. Correa wants the USA's money without any regard for US law and diplomacy. Correa who has sent his liars and money launderers to the USA again this week to beg for more money takes the generosity of idiotic neo idiots from the USA and gives back a mafia style response complete with more lies, more dishonor and a refusal to even credential the USA's ambassador- or so we now read at Expreso.ec on September 19.

"Hodges espera entrar a Carondelet
La embajadora de Estados Unidos busca oficializar su misión ante Rafael Correa..."

And all this gamesmanship  in no way akin to the 1700s Expulsion of he Jesuits from South America, which was essentially grand theft and murder, the Chavez team expelled  NGO man Jose Miguel Vivanco from Caracas for...Sao Paulo. The NEW YORK TIMES, which of course adores Vivanco as a source noted, "The [Venezuelan] Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Mr. Vivanco violated the law by entering the country on a tourist visa to do human rights work. The ministry also said that Human Rights Watch, which is an outspoken critic of the Bush administration, was acting in concert with the United States government in a campaign of aggression against Venezuela."

What is true is that for years Vivanco's own group, itself backed by George Soros, set the stage for its own demise by failing to report all the facts about Chavez's dictatorship and followed he soothing lines staged by the incredulous Roger Noriega when serving at the US Department of State- all repeating their Greek chorus that there were "worried" or "concerned" about Chavez's populism. Had Vivanco and the rest of his minions of misreporting been honest long ago, Chavez would have seen factual reports noting that de facto and de jure Hugo Chavez is a state sponsor of terror, runs his nation like a criminal cartel and has not been a democracy since the day he was elected, if then. So - no. We do not weep for Jose Miguel the enabler as he was carted off to Sao Paulo. We do weep for the selfish and unendingly lazy Venezuelans who could have and should have delivered more that Jose Miguel did in his current Report. Venezuelans are living that reality and have an obligation to themselves and their families to state the facts- not wait for a recycled Soros man to tell their story.

Operating on the fake theory that one is acceptable to despots and tyrannical dictators just because you loathe George Bush is not enough cause juste to justify taking U.S. tax dollars and spreading more problems. We hope you read Vivanco's Report here. It is in fact a useful primer- for kindergartners who have ignored regional realities for the past decade. Pay special attention to their ginned up protections for labor unionists. We can guarantee you this: correcting human rights abuses is commendable and necessary but will also never rebuild falied societies which warrant human rights protections....and every other facet of liberty.  HRW calls Chavez's courts "compliant." Compliant? They are kangaroos, shams and fake courts- as is the exact case in Correa's Ecuador. Compliant? Complicit to defraud and deceive would be the correct use of the English language. And HRW reminds us that Chavez controls his nation's airwaves. But what HRW failed to say- and Venezuelans failed themselves to figure out- is that there will never ever be any justice for anything in Venezuela under Chavez's cartel- not for restoring media ownership to past holders, not to business persons and not to anyone. Venezuelan justice has not existed for almost one full decade and it is past time to stop pretending that Venezuelan justice even exists when it exists only in the minds of the self enriching cartel government and the legal community who play right along- billing wildly- for justice that will never come. Venezuela's lawyers enable Chavez's fraud and are dishonest as surely as Chavez's media defrauds the public.

And while we do not disagree with HRW's self serving, NGO rallying final summary, we find their final Recommendations to Chavez completely lacking in any attention for the big picture, as if human rights NGOs will save Venezuelans....from themselves:

"Recommendations
The Chávez government should abandon its aggressively adversarial posture toward local human rights defenders and civil society organizations. As the experience with police reform demonstrates, even in the midst of a polarized political situation, constructive engagement is possible and can contribute to finding solutions to the country’s chronic human rights problems.

Specifically, government officials should:

Refrain from unfounded attacks on the credibility of human rights defenders and civil society organizations;
Publicly retract unfounded public statements against rights advocates and organizations;
Engage constructively with human rights defenders in seeking solutions to address Venezuela’s chronic human rights problems; and cease discrimination against civil society organizations that receive international funding, including by blocking their participation in international forums or public appointment selection processes.
In addition, the Attorney General’s Office should:

Conclude outstanding criminal investigations against human rights defenders and civil society representatives in a timely manner; and refrain from filing unsubstantiated or grossly exaggerated charges against human rights defenders and civil society leaders."

That is it- that is the whole To Do List for Chavez. And if you did not find the rest of liberty's laundry list therein, you are not alone. Do not misunderstand us- it is tragic that anyone who is innocent of crime is expelled capriciously from any place. And we do remind that human rights, along with all other rights, are important. But even the Jesuits were expelled for much much more than this- they actually did something for 200 years in Latin America before expulsion by the Spanish-Portuguese-Vatican political team up which was of course all about property rights confiscation, enhancing Brazil's massive slave trade, and greed.
