Mean and Petty Ecuadoreans Swear Allegiance to Cartels and Denounce Each Other

December 4, 2008   ECrisis remains repulsed by too many of our friends crying cowardice and complicity with criminals based on pressure from their co-workers, wives and mothers. We have heard enough passive-aggressive self justifications for loss of ethics from Ecuadoreans telling us that we must all, in the face of Rafael Correa, act precisely like the Vichy government of France under Hitler. That is historically to say: enable, assist, aid and give comfort while never ever stating the facts about these aberrant tyrants in our midst. The Vichy Government was shameful in its criminal complicity and is not a good role model for Ecuadoreans, no matter how many wives and leaders preach these non-virtues.

Western Civilization holds such passive aggressive barring of ethics in the face of crime with no regard. Historians continue to study what transpired to lead whole nations in to criminal complicity with evil. The story of the Andes in complicity with the Russo-Iranian-Venezuelan-Ecuadorean axis of criminal cartel governance, a parallel if our friends are to be believed and we generally concur, will not be a pretty one once the facts are filed. The British Telegraph yesterday here reports on Nazi sympathizers called the Nazi collaborators of the Vichy Era in WW II Europe: “Petty disputes led to Nazi denunciation in WWII France.  Up to a million French people denounced their neighbours to the Nazis during the Second World War, historians have revealed. According to Mr. Joly the issue of denunciation has been almost completely overlooked in history books. This was partly because the French had been loath to delve into the crimes of Vichy, but also because the collaborationist regime did not officially encourage denunciation unlike fascist Germany or Italy. `Nevertheless, it was a fundamental characteristic of Vichy France,' he said. `In a sense, it was the only way people could express themselves in a country where there were no demonstrations, no rights, no vote: it was the voice of the people, although often a mean and petty voice or a way of swearing allegiance to the powers that be.' "

Study this line here....what happens when freedom of speech and liberties are denied: "...the only way people could express themselves in a country where there were no demonstrations, no rights, no vote: it was the voice of the people, although often a mean and petty voice or a way of swearing allegiance to the powers that be." Understand this: when evil takes your liberty and you willfully abandon liberty, your complicity in evil is always known. You may pretend that like the gay Parisians you will be afforded a life of gay abandon to continue as a loathsome, irresponsible manipulator and pretend that crime is terrific, but at some point your own role in this evil will be known whether by expressions of false testimony/bearing false witness against your neighbor or by exposure of your own "mean and petty" lives- always deriding others and always seeking self worth through manipulative, also called collaborating with evil, living.

Petty Ecuadoreans right now know well that their votes are essentially meaningless in Correa's April elections: he will once again rob state funds to elevate his own campaign for presidential power in perpetuity. Ecuadoreans, still addicted to shallow lives of manipulation, pretend that theirs is a great human rights bulwark by gifting human rights to abortionists, transgenders and rocks and stones and any vermin that moves, are revealed internationally for what they are: addicts to irresponsibly manipulative lives where unending shallowness shows a national frenzy to defend their rights to watch Spanish bull fights, priding themselves on overcoming Correa's constitution for one week out of the year to drink and drink and drink.

Tragically, in 1944 Paris, no one knew who was a truth teller or not and no one knew which neighbor would denounce them rightly or wrongly. Those "denouncements" were a pretty phrase which means ....send others you do not like to the death chambers with no rule of law and no way out. The French bore false witness against their neighbors and over one million were killed because of their "denunciations." No integrity, no honesty and no commitment to the future- this is what hollow living brings. No- Vichy France was a disgrace to mankind and not worthy of replicating although it is the very ethic that petty, undereducated vapid Ecuadoreans subscribe to today: retreat, defeat and manipulate.

Indeed, the government of Ecuador cannot even be honest about its finances as it wings its way across Africa and the Middle East to Iran. Here are Correa's goons- not even being honest about paying their bills:

Ecuador Govt Has Paid $1.2 Mln On Brady Par Bonds - Source
By Mercedes Alvaro
Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

QUITO (Dow Jones)--Ecuador's Finance Ministry last week paid $1.2 million on the nation's outstanding Brady Par bonds, a source close to the government said Wednesday.

"These bonds were paid," the source told Dow Jones Newswires.

The payment could show that the government of President Rafael Correa might plan to avoid defaulting on its bonds, despite threatening to refute some of its sovereign debt.

Last month a debt audit commission released its final report on Ecuador's debt contracted between 1976 and 2006.

The report's finding said it considers illegitimate or illegal most of Ecuador's debt.

The Andean country defaulted on its foreign debt obligations in 1999.

In August of 2000, it carried out an exchange of Brady bonds and Eurobonds for new 30-year and 12-year bonds, which involved a 40% haircut for creditors.

Holders of approximately 97% of the outstanding $6.46 billion in debt took part in the exchange.

After that, Ecuador also inked a restructuring deal with the Paris Club of bilateral creditors, involving $880 million in arrears and amounts falling due until April 30, 2001.

According the debt audit report, Ecuador had sufficient liquidity to make a scheduled Brady bond payment in 1999 but instead defaulted on the debt.

Ramiro Crespo, from Analytica Securities, an investment bank based in Quito, said that the Brady bond payment could be a sign that Ecuador will pay the $30.6 million coupon of its Global 2012 bonds.

"There are two possibilities. It (the payment) was a mistake or the government is thinking to pay the Global 2012 coupon," Crespo said.

On Nov. 14, Ecuador announced that it would take advantage of a 30-day grace period before deciding whether to pay the coupon payment on its 2012 Global bonds. The coupon payment was scheduled for Nov. 15.

Ecuador has three overseas bond issues outstanding: $510 million in bonds due 2012, which carry a 12% coupon; $650 million of 9.375% bonds due 2015; and $2.7 billion of 10% bonds due in 2030. The nation is also scheduled to pay $30.9 million of its Global 2015 bonds on Dec. 15.

Due to clauses in the bond contracts, a default on any of the Global bonds would be considered a default on the other Global bonds.

Crespo said that if the government didn't meet the Brady Par payments, then the Globals would also fall into default.

Correa's planned debt manipulation remains committed to manipulating markets, obfuscating, creating tension-panic-scares-instability and is chock full of words such as "might do it" or Might not do it" or "maybe" or "could have" and "might have." What this means is that Correa is not serious about serving as an honest leader for anything. More critical is this line that although some unknown person leaked unofficially that Correa might have paid the $1.2 million in debt due now, he will owe almost $31 million on December 15, 2008 and other bond coupons while: "Due to clauses in the bond contracts, a default on any of the Global bonds would be considered a default on the other Global bonds."

Any guesses as to why Correa is winging to Iran with de facto his entire government? The answer is because Correa's team knows that he has broken the nation and each will do all they can to find new, dirty money. And where has all of Ecuador's money gone? We know that Correa has overspent illegally to get his total powers constitution passed and already overspends on his April presidential bid and everything else. Ecuador is broke and Correa has looted its assets.
