Ecuadoreans on their Self - Inflicted Road to Ruin
December 16, 2008 What have we learned so far about Ecuador's Rafael Correa? He is dishonorable, is mentally vapid and out of touch; he is willfully and cravenly dishonest and corrupt. He is a criminal. He is in fact a drug king pin. Anyone who tells you differently is either a liar or a staff person from the drug expanding US AID merged George Soros-directed U.S. Embassy in Quito for FARC protectorate building, also called the U.S. Democratic Party. Although Correa is the perfect mirror of every single Ecuadorean today, he is the sole man with all powers at his hands. Correa is a communist-Marxist dictator. He is pointedly destroying Ecuador to re make it in his addiction-to-Cuban-Marxism, a vision he has held for over 20 years, even seen in his ridiculously vapid so called doctoral thesis which remains a political screed to explain why capitalism is evil and Marxism is adored, from a shopping mall university called the University of Illinois. Correa is a manipulative and uneducated buffoon. It is time for him to go. And it is time for every Ecuadorean to stop enabling Correa to commit more crimes.
Why is it that Ecuadoreans are following Correa's manipulative, cult-like addiction off a cliff in to national suicide without a whimper in objective opposition? The answer is simple: all Ecuadoreans are now trained to shut up, play the manipulative game and revere the manipulator, no matter how adolescent.
Rafael Correa dishonestly calls Ecuador's debt- all of it- immoral. Ecuadoreans listen unquestioningly to his analysis and believe him. What is immoral is Correa's lies to Ecuador and Ecuadoreans returning the favor to encourage Correa to lie some more: that is immoral. The AP tells us, "The 2012 bonds had already plunged to a quarter of their September value as default speculation swirled. Bond prices fell further on Monday. The price of the 2012 bonds fell 13.6 percent to $25.50, and the price of the 2015 bonds fell 17 percent to $24.50. The 2030 bonds dropped 19.5 percent to $24.Ecuadorian Finance Minister Maria Elsa Viteri, would neither confirm nor deny an Ecuadorean newspaper report that the government had recently bought $680 million in its own debt....former Correa finance minister, Wilma Salgado, called the default `absolutely necessary to shake global consciousness into seeing how corrupt the management of the world financial system has become.' " So - the world is corrupt and Ecuador needs to shake it up. This is adolescent crime enabling at its passive aggressive best, as practiced today by every single Ecuadorean and follows their in home training in the high art of manipulation. And this is supposedly justifying Correa's massive theft- a crime. Co-enablers like Maria Elsa and Wilma abound in Quito and need to stop. Wilma -grow up: Correa's default is a crime and is not necessary at all. Wilma, for her part, is now an accessory to this crime as is Viteri.
There are no adults running Ecuador nor are there any adults anywhere but there are Chavez's DISIP-Cuban Intelligence officers all over the place. There are US AID-Soros activists by the hundreds crawling all over Ecuador to help Correa stay his intention to cast Ecuador in to a narcozone and they have succeeded in this. There are actors from the U.S. embassy who are helping Correa lie a lot more to the world. But with the better monitoring of FARC cash transfers, still not very good at all in Ecuador, the FARC cannot whisk its ill gotten gains for cash transfers as easily to Correa so he has gone to the source of true and overt evil- Iran- for cash. Iran of course wants territorial controls and once inside, will not stop.
There is some hope- somewhere- that someone, anyone will shut the addiction to manipulative living in Ecuador and denounce the national cult of pathetic whining, lying and living off of someone else's money. There is always hope which comes from God's graces but must be put in to action or else be known as abandoning the gifts of truth telling, which has of course been underway in Ecuador for some time.
What are Ecuadoreans to do? Primarily all Ecuadoreans are advised to stop lying to themselves and their families and communities. Just stop it.
Start defining reality upwards and cut off the dishonest manipulative ethos in your homes and work places. We have long advised that all Ecuadoreans enroll in therapy to cease their incessant addiction to manipulation. Colombia's Alvaro Uribe offers intensive therapy for addicts to manipulation, also called his life retraining camps for former FARC followers. A good place to begin is to go to Colombia and enroll to relearn how to stop this madness of teen age-style manipulative living which has so deeply infected Ecuador, as it always does. The one thing that Ecuadoreans should have known is that addiction and its family co-enabling to manipulative living will always be known for what it is and what it is remains ugly, dishonest and deeply in need of real work. Uribe can help. But like all truth tellers, Uribe is today under a vicious propaganda campaign by Ecuadoreans who are so addicted to dishonesty and manipulative living that they actually hate the good and love the lies. This is a root problem which can be repaired but will require truth telling. And of course breaking off with Iran and the vermin of dishonesty.
But lazy, vacuous Ecuadoreans cannot even stand to boot out Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his dirty money because Ecuadoreans want to pretend that they are victims, they are ignorant and they deserve more money- something for nothing- because it is their birth right. We disagree. Ecuadoreans need a national re hab now. It starts in the home and in every community. The tools are readily available and free- just stick to the Ten Commandments, which cannot be manipulated, and you will be fine. But Ecuadorians even think that the basic Ten Commandments are too hard- too tough- and so they pretend that these choate laws of mankind do not apply to them when they do. But Ecuadorians have just installed a fake religion under Correa to gift themselves with a fake religion called Pachamama so that each will feel better every time they try to manipulate even the Ten Commandments. This evil addiction to manipulating morality has cost Ecuador and is a national disgrace, also called national stupidity of the deified undereducated:
Ecuador's Idiot-Minded Default
Mon Dec 15 18:04:57 UTC 2008 from: http://www.ibdeditorials.com/Blogs.aspx
How stupid was Ecuador's debt default Friday? Way stupider than anyone imagines, according to this knowledgeable source. Ecuador has boxed itself into a corner and absolutely cannot win with this idiotic debt default that need never have happened. Hat tip: M
-----
Here too is a center left publication, LATIN BUSINESS CHRONICLE stating what Ecuadoreans refuse to say today: Correa is a failure and needs to depart Carondelet Palace, but Ecuadoreans fearing an end to their self satisfying enabling ploys to aid and abet manipulative government will not let Correa depart when they should. The addiction and co-addiction is so strong now that no one will stand up for honor or ethics. This is a very bad sign and shows how ruinous addictive, childish living remains:

Debt Default: Ecuador Loses Most
Ecuador is now facing an even worse economic outlook thanks to Rafael Correa's debt default.
BY CHRONICLE EDITORS
The biggest losers from Ecuador's debt default announced Friday are not foreign bond holders. Rather they are Ecuadorian companies, which now will have a virtually impossible time getting international credit - just as all markets are suffering from a credit crunch.
"Ecuadorian exporters of shrimp, banana and flowers will likely find it difficult to secure trade finance," UK-based risk consultancy Exclusive Analysis points out in a commentary today. "Heavy manufacturers, agricultural firms and service providers are also likely to see the cost of credit increase substantially, thus significantly raising non-payment risks."
ATPDEA UNCERTAINTY
Those problems come on top of Ecuadorian exporter's challenge of selling to the U.S. market as a result of uncertainty surrounding the country's benefits from the Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act. The ATPDEA gives Ecuador duty-free access to the United States for 5,000 products. However, its ATPDEA benefits run out in December next year and may be cut earlier as the U.S. Congress reviews its status as a result of a recent wave of actions against U.S. investors. The latest debt default doesn't exactly boost Ecuador's chances of keeping the ATPDEA.
As a result of the debt default, Credit Suisse has revised down its growth forecast for Ecuador's economy next year from 2.0 percent to minus 1.0 percent.
Meanwhile, Exclusive Analysis predicts that most foreign direct investment is likely to stall or move to neighboring countries, where credit is cheaper and government interference less obtuse. Ecuador already has Latin America's second-lowest foreign direct investment compared with its GDP, as Latin Business Chronicle has pointed out.
"The most immediate impact of the default, however, will be Ecuador's exclusion from international credit lines at a time of the global credit crunch and falling oil prices," it says.
OUT OF TOUCH
The announced default shows just how out of touch President Rafael Correa is from reality. "The costs from declaring a default for the overall economy clearly exceed the savings benefits for the Ecuadorian government," IHS Global Insight rightly points out in an analysis today. "The country will suffer, among other effects, a reduction in credit lines for foreign trade and further capital outflows, an increase in borrowing costs, and ever-limited access to the financial system."
The move to default on a $30.6 million interest payment due today, will lead investors to lose more than they did when Argentina defaulted on its debt in 2001, according to Bloomberg. Correa made the decision to default not out of economic necessity -- Ecuador has ample foreign reserves - but ideological reasons.
The tragedy is that Correa's populist-socialist policies are hurting not only badly-needed foreign investors, but also Ecuador's own private sector. While Correa is looking for foreign scapegoats for Ecuador's growing economic problems, he'll find the true culprit by looking in the mirror.
----------
Yes- it is true. The real criminal in Ecuador is the face you see in the mirror every day. It is you- everyman and woman in Ecuador, today dishonest and today addicted to manipulations so smelly and so pathetic that the disgrace is overwhelming. Negative national budgets now, no money, no credit and no democracy and no free speech. And now....the joys of totalitarian regimes willfully- happily- brought to you by Correa, Chavez and the mullahs of evil from Iran who will hurt you. We are not saying that Islam is evil but Iran's special Islam will hurt you as sure as you are sitting there because Iran's state religion is total and is totally evil. And you know this and now it is the mirror of what happens when each Ecuadorean, each family, each community refuses to stand up and remove the evil at hand. Instead, Ecuadoreans in December are either drunk or shopping or pretending that life is one giant vacation which someone, somewhere will repair for them. This is the be-all, end all of Ecuadorean manipulative living. It is a very expensive lesson about growing up and living honest, responsible lives. There will be no help at all for Ecuadoreans until each man and woman stands for something other then their selfish, greedy adolescent self.
Here is a superb analysis from INVESTORS BUSINESS DAILY:

Disaster By Default
By INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Monday, December 15, 2008 4:20 PM PT
Latin America: Ecuador lived up to its reputation as a banana republic Monday by defaulting on sovereign debt it easily could have paid. It looks like the real plan may be to bankrupt its own private sector.
On its face, Ecuador's default on $3.8 billion in bonds looks like rank stupidity. Sovereign defaults, after all, are rare, and almost always the result of a nation running out of cash. Not Ecuador. Monday's default is its second in eight years, and its seventh in 178 years as a nation.
But unlike other defaults, Monday's stiffing of investors is based on unwillingness, not inability, to pay. Flush from high oil earnings, the tiny Andean state has $5.6 billion in reserves and public debt at only 33% of GDP. It could easily pay if it wanted to.
The problem is President Rafael Correa, a radical leftist with a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His aim is total state control. By defaulting, he's trying to end Ecuador's use of the dollar and shut down the private sector by depriving it of investment. Both bode ill for the country's future.
Correa scurrilously claims that the debt is "immoral" and the lenders are "monsters." His thin reed of reasoning is that the debt was illegally contracted, and he says he'll see them all in court.
That could take decades. What won't take that long is the impact of the default on Ecuador's private sector and its 300,000 or so businesses that export fish, shrimp, coffee, flowers and other goods.
They'll lose access to international credit for trade financing, based on the knock-on effect of sovereign default across a country.
Whole supply chains will be disrupted for exporters. Importers will lose their 45-day window for payments and be forced to pay in advance. Ecuador is already rated by the World Bank as one of the world's lousiest places to do business, ranking 136th out of 181 economies in its 2008 survey, and this will make things worse.
Larger companies can reincorporate in better-run countries like Peru and Colombia, but small entrepreneurs will go under. On top of this, Ecuador is in line to lose duty-free export access to the U.S. due to Correa's refusal to cooperate in the war on drugs.
Defaulting also damages Ecuador's ability to use the dollar as its currency because it lessens the income stream of export cash.
"To keep dollarization working, you need foreign currency from commodity exports, as well as remittances and trade finance," Edgar Teran, Ecuador's former foreign minister, told IBD from Quito. "If you close off any of these sources of income, you will spend more dollars than you draw into Ecuador and the government will say, 'We won't use dollars anymore.' "
Fiat currencies and devaluation are next, he said, which is what Ecuadoreans fear most.
This will isolate Ecuador from the world. Correa has enough reserves to keep the government going for a while. He's also sidling up to global troublemakers Iran and Venezuela for additional sponsorship.
This only makes sense if the aim is to get rid of the private sector. This is about par for a Marxist who wants to nationalize an economy and create an all-powerful state. But it's also a road to ruin.
--------
ECrisis wants you to know that you will be surprised at how much money Rafael Correa has spent with his lawyers in the USA and his propagandists to lie a lot to the USA about Ecuador's so called fabulous fight against drugs, which of course does not exist in any verifiable sense. But one thing the US Democrats and the Obama team, hollow and ethics-free as usual, do not want is to be caught in their own complicity with Correa's Iranian-FARC banking nexus. The USA will bar Ecuador from any further stupidity of more and more ATPDEA duty free US taxpayers' give aways. Had the US Democrats and the U.S. Department of State under the Soros narcostate installing ploys for ruinous drug running in the Andes been honest before now, it is likely that Ecuador would not have been enabled to craft wide spread fraud which does not hurt the U.S. economy by some degrees. Certainly Ecuador has no economy now: Correa has stolen every penny and now steals from all bond holders under the laws of New York state and the US Securities and Exchange Commission, has defrauded Americans and Ecuadoreans as well.
Correa has broken Ecuador- financially and morally. Ecuadoreans, so easily seduced because each man and woman has been trained from birth to be ever readily seduced by manipulators in the homes and schools and businesses, are weak and vapid. Correa must go and take his ruinous manipulators with him.
But even if Ecuador had and held real money, for it does not, Ecuador will still be morally and ethically bankrupt- repulsive in their addictions. Without honor there is no capitalism. Ecuadorean mores and addictions have killed capitalism and democracy in Ecuador. The U.S. Embassy wants you to know in Quito that this is a good thing because it helpfully kills off the evil oligarchy and helps the narcostate better run drugs to help the poor. This line of garbage is pathetic. You can ask the US Embassy in Quito and its US AID minions what they have ever done that is helpful. You will get their stock answer that they are helping the poor- to more Marxism, more drug running and more lies. You can also ask them how much time and money they wasted helping Soros's own FARC man, US Congressman McGovern and his team from Soros's own field actors in Ecuador over the last two years. And you know that this Embassy, pathetic as it is, seriously believes that their special Soros FARC promoting man, Carl Meacham currently working for the brain-dead Senator Lugar will replace Tom Shannon at State Department under Obama. Or maybe Senator Dodd's dishonest right hand will return from retirement and supplant the FARC zone creating advocate Meacham at State Department. There is no difference between the two except for their ages and both are ruinously dishonest. But either one will advocate for the drug running FARC protectors in Ecuador as they have for the last 4 years, now at its nadir. The Soros activists think this is a good thing. We think it is a dishonest and disgusting advent. But US ambassador Hodges has been lying about Ecuador ever since she got to Quito. She must be recalled for instructions and replaced quickly since she provides no service whatsoever to the USA. Currently numerous liars want to tell you in hushed tones that the current plan is to apply Correa to break Chavez's spending spree by jiggering Ecuadorean bonds to hurt Chavez's derivatives bets, as if dirty bind market and off the books derivatives trades are a great foreign policy tool. This is the worst deceit ever. There is no plan to play Correa off of Chavez or any effort to create fiscal ruin for Chavez from Correa's market crimes. But there are a lot of liars in the USA and in the Andes today who are busily covering their own lies because....they just got outed for what they have been doing- all of which is ruinous.
All North Americans who whisper that Correa and Chavez can be under restorative behaviors because the derivatives funds will bring them to their senses are sheer liars. No derivatives or dirty money market bets will restore goodness and mercy. There are no laws, there is no Congress or valid police or backbone in Ecuador nor in Venezuela. All is dirty and none is lawful. The excuse that derivatives will save capitalism is the worst sort of fraud. This debasing scheme must cease. Correa has no plans to abandon his fiefdom. He just merged with the very evil and very manipulative Iran to protect his criminal empire. And Chavez did the arranged marriage- bigamous though it is. But Iran's mullahs want you to know that bigamy is what they sell, along with death, famine, disease and dishonesty. Bigamy and multiple wives and partners are part of what Iran's propagandists sell to attract men to their cult. Ecuadoreans know this are so easily seduced. Their wives tell them that anything manipulative is great. Thus, Ecuadoreans end Western Civilization by their own greed and dishonesty.
The OAS must act now and insist that Ecuador bar Iranian monies and weaponry. Instead of Insulza making bad jokes about George W. Bush and embracing George Soros, as he does, the OAS must act on its own charter or forever more be known as feckless and meaningless.
The United Nations must remind Ecuador of its own Resolutions against Iran or else Ecuador can quit the UN or the OAS.
The United State Treasury must act to end this string of financial crimes. The U.S. FBI is sitting on top of massive RICO cases while Correa is of course a drug king pin who can be easily indicted in the USA under US laws.
The USA must cut the ATPDEA give aways right now. All USA banks for Correa need a full review and notice that they are not welcome to launder Iranian and Venezuelan monies for Correa. All Ecuadorean passports and VISAS are now t9 be stopped because most of them are fake and are falsified documents to gift Iranian travel to the USA. This needs to stop.
What must end now is the enabling of Rafael Correa by the USA because Correa is a dishonest and dishonorable menace who is installing weapons to hurt people.
DEBT DEFAULT: Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa announcing the debt default on Friday. (Photo: Ecuador President's Office)
Ecuador can enjoy a temporary governing plan. It is patently clear that the criminal Correa can no longer govern. Ecuador can have a temporary ruling team while it holds free and fair elections.
But Correa must be stopped. And the USA's Democratic Party needs to stop pouring money in to this criminal drug cartel in Quito. Last we looked, aiding and abetting Iranians to kill Americans with their weapons and their trained terrorists is.... an act of treason or at best sedition. Nancy Pelosi's legal counsel from the Soros group of pro Iranian and pro FARC actors needs to be so charged, along with Pelosi for sedition in support of the FARC and Iran. Ecuador's rasher of lawyers in the USA should also notify Correa that they chose to break with his evil doings because they do not want their law licenses yanked- they chose to not face disbarment proceedings, even Obama's own pet rocks- his old law Chicago firm Sidley & Austin. We hope they are de-barred. All USA lawyers have an obligation to perform due diligence- not simply act on greed. Sidleys' Newt Minnow should have stopped this game of greed. We hope by now this has occurred.
LATIN BUSINESS CHRONICLE runs these writer-comments:
From: kito, nyc
please educate yourself on the atpdea. Ecuador’s preferred trade status under the atpdea is not threatened. our government has made it clear it will be renewed. the atpdea is based on ecuador's cooperation on fighting drugs, (which they have been doing well), not on whether u.s. firms feel theyve been treated unfairly. correa is defaulting based on irregularities in issuing the bonds, not because he is "out of touch". ecuador will have an opportunity to defend itself in a u.s court and expose what these irregularities are.
From: sim, Quito
From an American living in Ecuador - all of the press about Correa's position has been negative, but remember that Ecuador has been giving in to international economic pressure for the last few decades and it has resulted only in poverty and economic crises. Now at least they are trying something different. It may not be the best choice, but then again neither was all the neo-liberal restructuring of the past.
-------
We remind our readers that it is a lie that Correa will be gifted an ATPDEA extension, no matter what Ambassador Hodges, Correa and Congressman McGovern tell you. Ecuador does not do one thing to fight against drugs trans shipments and launders FARC money and agents. The USA cannot afford the Pelosi-McGovern-Hodges-Correa lies any more and has a legal obligation to review the facts- not the propaganda about Ecuador's fight against drugs. Ecuador just released drug runners from jail and has legalized narcotics while gifting the FARC with safe haven status. These are the "irregularities," also called lying to the USA and everyone else. Correa to defend his theft of his bond holders? We think not and we are appalled at the sheer self delusion of these manipulative cult addicts from Ecuador. The 2nd writer tells us that Correa is trying something different. That is true. He has installed a plan to lie about everything and that is change you can count on- Correa's lawlessness. International standards for finance and accountability have not once brought Ecuador to ruin nor to harm "the poor." Greed and corruption and incompetence have done that and still do. Indeed, "the poor" are worse off today than they were 8 years ago or even 15 years ago.
As Ecuador faces its choice to stop its incessant addiction to childishness, there are options. There is help and there is hope. But Ecuadoreans must have the presence to ask for it formally- not by hiding and running away because their families tell them to abandon integrity. You are not alone but because you have abandoned common sense, you are behind the curve. Get with the program and stand up like adults for once in a very long time. It may hurt in the short term to instruct your families to stop preaching manipulative living. But you just might regain your honor and your country. What is assured is that if you do not, you will face over twenty years of darkness under the Correa-Chavez-Iranian plan and that is something that even your revered housewifely manipulative demands...cannot manipulate. Stand up now or know that the dishonor is yours.
Here is a recent reminder that you were warned, although you went shopping to forget about this reality:

Worse yet for Ecuadoreans is the symbol that at least someone cared about liberty and that would be the loss of Leon Febres Cordero, who in the end was corrupt but not even close to the total corruption and fleeing of Ecuador as under Correa. As long as Cordero was alive, the U.S. Embassy in Quito could pretend that it had a domestic enemy in Cordero who did indeed advocate for trade and pro USDA policies, which the USA embassy finds abhorrent. Nonetheless, in death Ecuadoreans today see that there is an end to any adult like behavior in Quito. Others say that Cordero was so heart broken by the removal of Ecuador's democracy that he died of heart break.
Deaths Elsewhere / Febres Cordero, former president of Ecuador
Pioneer Press
Updated: 12/15/2008 10:50:34 PM CST
Former President Leon Febres Cordero, the colorful, right-wing leader who dominated Ecuadorean politics for decades and was dubbed the "owner" of the nation by his opponents, died Monday. He was 77.
Close friend and political confidant Alfonso Harb said Febres Cordero — who survived five heart bypass operations, two bouts with cancer and three bullet wounds — died of complications from pulmonary emphysema caused by chain-smoking.
The U.S.-educated mechanical engineer was the indisputable leader of Ecuador's right for half a century and was one of only three presidents in 27 years to finish their terms in this politically unstable Andean nation.
Born in the Pacific port city of Guayaquil, Febres Cordero was president from 1984 to 1988 under the banner of the conservative Social Christian party. After leaving the presidency, he dominated Ecuador's Congress and courts until his failing health forced his withdrawal from politics in 2002.
The first Latin American president to champion free-market economics in the 1980s, Febres Cordero won warm support from fellow conservative Ronald Reagan.
He survived politically despite an earthquake that crippled oil exports for six months, a leftist insurgency, two military rebellions and a kidnapping by renegade paratroopers who killed three of his bodyguards. He was released 11 hours later after being roughed up.
He applied an iron fist to virtually eliminate the urban, Cuban-inspired guerrilla group Alfaro Vive.
His opponents considered him autocratic and accused him of using his party's control over the judicial system to harass his enemies by having them arrested or driving them into exile.
But Febres Cordero enjoyed unconditional support from Ecuador's right and a large part of the country's population.
Ecuador's president Correa dishonestly calls for days of mourning to honor Cordero. Rafael Correa hates Leon Febres Cordero even in death because Cordero stood up for free market capitalism and not communism. Cordero struck a blow for Correa's own glorious narcoterrorists, sisters to the FARC and the Shining Path for whom Correa's own father worked by the Cuban backed Alfaro Vive criminals, recently elevated as archangels for Ecuador in their pathetic shrine to communism called the assembly in Montecristi, now with a name change to further legalize the Alfaro Vive narcoterrorists who intentionally tried to murder Cordero and did murder lots of innocents. Correa's father was of the drug running Alfaro Vive which did try to kill Cordero. Correa hates Cordero.
Look closely at the faces of these Ecuadoreans in mourning for Febres Cordero. The U.S. Embassy in Quito calls these persons "right wingers" and "oligarchs." They also are called Needs-To- Be-Gone in order to make Ecuador safe for the George Soros vision of a narcostate. Correa calls these Ecuadoreans hateful because Cordero dared to bring down his Correa drug running family business and put drug running communists who mimicked his padre Correa in jail for their terrorizing drug running, about which Correa still lies. Correa, sensing Cordero's popularity, has called for mourning which is his PR tactic. We can only ponder what Cordero is thinking today from his grave.
El féretro del ex Mandatario fue trasladado en Guayaquil a lo largo de la calle Córdova con honores militares, seguido por simpatizantes y familiares. Foto: EL COMERCIO
Look again at these mourners: they are called evil. They are called pro democracy and international norms. They are called pro law and order. They are called the oligarchy which hurt the "poor." We call them law abiding citizens who are watching their last best hope for freedom pass by.
ECrisis notes that Leon Febres Cordero was many things- among them a bull headed patriarch who made many mistakes. But in his own way he stood as a symbol to restore Ecuadorean democracy and law and order, which served the nation for many years. Cordero was served for many years by some of Ecuador's best and brightest until chronic manipulators such as former ambassador to DC and later former chief of staff to then president Sixto Duran Ballen, Raul Gangotena did what he and his manipulative, dishonest ilk always do: manipulated the Cordero administration for fun and profit shamelessly and debased their own agenda. But today Cordero belongs to the ages, no more to be hurt by his own inner team of liars like the school of Gangotena nor the communist narco nation builder Correa. Ecuadoreans weep for the loss of this symbol of someone who stood up to the drug cartels, which now run their nation.
-Pedro Camargo for ECrisis
