November 21, 2009 ECrisis dearly apologizes to our ardent and devoted readers in Ecuador for our long absence. We internally pondered the choices ahead of us- our time, our charity and our values as living, breathing human beings as the Ecuadorean government would act to silence us, hurt us and end our days on Earth. We have deemed it prudent to ignore the pleadings of our wives, our children, our friends in the workplace and our communities to decide that it is better to take Correa and Chavez’s bribes, their threats and their fear mongering. We have decided to carry on because our wives, our children and our colleagues are flat wrong. It is immoral to run away from the seductive charms of jumping in to Correa’s already crowded bed and to throw away our own morals.

He was right. We now see that our helpful intimates are asking us to give over our understanding of moral character and to de facto go along, go along- appease, enable and this leads de jure to help build the ALBA national unity of destructive behaviors while forgetting that there is a better way and that we are not doomed to replicate Hugo Chavez’s gluttonous evil-ness. Yes- we know too well that paid Cubans are teamed with Ecuadorean military and police one on one to spy on each other and promote the uber-state. We know that freedom faces a hoary end in Quito. We know too the non-morals of Rafael Correa’s presidency with all the unholy rules of a Gay Man’s Bath House….not rules for moral living at all. We know too that dozens now reside on Correa’s Hate Lists: charged with treason for no reason other than Correa does not like the cut of their jib. We know too that matters in Ecuador are dying- jobs, money, food and supplies are crassly manipulated because persons who like to manipulate hold no essential morals and always destroy what they touch. We believe that economic and personal freedoms are far better than mercantilist/statist controls that all Ecuadoreans revere because….they pretend that manipulative living serves each best. Besides, both Chavez and Correa are now out of ready cash and the hardships begin.

Good persons are hurt in Ecuador. Decent souls are dishonestly cast as enemies of the state. And still yet our feckless manipulators surrounding us raise not one finger to end this onward march of evil inside Ecuador….because they cannot. Their primary life goal is to manipulate and never, ever to stand or act on moral grounds. And still yet none above or below grasp that the essential heart of this darkness is their own personal character, so easily seduced  by Correa and Chavez’s KGB-STASI style tactics.

Recently we were involved in personal debates with persons from Caracas whose names you would instantly know. As only manipulative Venezuelans can do- and in the name of their manipulative and self serving understanding of freedom fighting, the Venezuelans lazily wondered why the USA did not come and save them from Hugo Chavez, as if some savior will rise from their streets and from Pennsylvania Avenue. Of course Barack Hussein Obama is controlled by George Soros who has spent a lot of money working with Chavez’s propagandists to insure that his businesses proceed unabated- the selfish, pathological business of making the best the enemy of the good. No savior from Obama’s unholy hand will rise. Rather we asked the essential question as to when Venezuelans will act with moral surety and terminate the state funded bribery, state monies to every Venezuelan paid to insure that Chavez’s manipulative cartel stays right on manipulating and crafting havoc? Will any Venezuelan give the state monies back and end this ménage a trois, relegating their own vapid, non-morals to the trash heap of history? No- to date none will so do because they are selfish, greedy and have no backbone. Are any willing to actually act with charity and supplant the state socialist hand-outs and end Chavez’s spread of communism? No- their own manipulative version of Christianity gifts them, they feel, with a free pass on functioning charity leaving them each as essentially charity-free. This makes a huge difference and Ecuador follows the same path now. Ecuadoreans, who never lifted one finger to help their fellow men, do not whine, cry and demand charity from others for them in repayment for something they never ever did do. With no affection, no moral compass and no vision as to how to rebuild their land, Ecuadoreans reveal the end game of their lives lived selfishly and with great emptiness. By your own honor, by your own intelligence, by your own charity, by your own integrity have you built a wall of honorable days that are unassailable? No- you were too busy in the shopping mall and manipulating with deceit all who were good around you.  And that is why you have Correa, Soros’s little proxy. And now….Mahmoud whose evil is the endgame.

And so… we return to reporting. And we jump start this season with an eye to rebuilding your own collective character and ours, so lost in some far off shopping mall. So shallow, so self-serving which, when worn like an empty badge of honor, signifies nothing because you still do nothing but stand in the way of actual persons from all walks of life who do have and hold moral surety. You alone can re set your private moral compass and cease pretending that you are holy indeed when your own non-truths show much of your self-deceptions. Stand now. Your nation needs you clear and clean now more than ever. Use a reliable moral compass and get on with it. Your grandchildren will thank you.

Yes- we hear you. We do read your comments. We know you are scared, yes, we know you claim to be uneducated. Yes we hear you as you tell us how much you enjoy whining as your sole daily activity. To all this we say: join the club. It is called adult living. We say- grow up. All your complaints are useless anyway and are… a lie to begin with. There is nothing on this planet stopping you now from growing up and leading a useful life- nothing that is- except those enablers around you whom you have cowed in to enabling your own baseless loss of integrity. But unless and until you do, you have not and your person, your vain, weak morals, your loss of character helps none. You become a silly whiney, girley -girl. A non truth teller. A useless sycophant of the current regime. An easy to seduce functionary because you stand for nothing. Your lack of cajones is showing. No one wants to listen to you and no one likes you because you are selfish and useless not just to your family but also in your business of living. Or as the U.S. president Lyndon Johnson once stated, “show me a man who walks in the room and his balls clang and I will show you a man I can do business with.”  In other words, living a feckless, dickless, character-free life is always revealed and known to the discerning and they reject your capacity to make contracts, do business and lead a meaningful life. In other words, if you want to be productive and successful, first you must have character that others can count on. Having no character and running away does not work.

We at ECrisis loathe the manipulators among us who run from even the basics of life, pretending that even moral men from the military cannot be stomached or appreciated because they do not belong to Quito Tennis Club. We despise this phony societal classification because we know that good men and women can exist in all walks of life, not just found fecklessly doing nothing at the vapid Quito Tennis where even religion is sandwiched in at the local chapel, conveniently placed for shallow worship after the 9th hole of golf for quick, manipulative family values- always for the show of piety but signifying nothing but hollowness and the serenity of knowing that one never even need cast an eye on those less fortunate than the dishonest, disingenuous habitués of the Club. Catholicism for manipulators remains yet dishonest. We know that the church calls on all to stand for functioning morals- not just selling out the church to socialism, euthanasia, abortions and transgender marriages.

It's Character, Stupid

Character matters -- above all else -- for the preservation of liberty and prosperity.

In America we take for granted that our form of government is superior to all others. History teaches us that the direction set by the founders was uncommonly prescient and has established us as the world leader forever. But has it really?

There is a notion that all forms of government inevitably evolve to circumvent their limitations and therefore will degrade into tyranny. While the pessimism of that notion is disheartening, an honest comparison of the current federal monstrosity to the limited republic described in the constitution reveals that we're headed down that highway.

This country was formed by a people of remarkable morality, education, and character. This character was clearly demonstrated during America's formative years as the founders managed to create a constitution of unmatched excellence despite the chaos of revolution.  During the numerous difficult struggles of this nation's first century, the Constitution served its purpose well as the absolute foundation of government.

Since then, we've fallen away from that foundation. The federal government has repeatedly acted outside and beyond the boundaries clearly established in the Constitution. The three branches of government have failed to abide by their legal and moral obligations to uphold and defend the Constitution. They have failed to exercise oversight and balance of each other, and instead have deftly escalated their spheres of control through cumulative encroachments upon individual liberties. The forest cannot be seen but for the trees. The countless incremental steps toward greater federal control, when considered individually, do not immediately appear grossly unconstitutional. Yet when one compares (with intellectual honesty) the state of the central government in 2009 to the language and intent of the founding documents, it is obvious that we've gone astray.  

How and why have we strayed?  It may be tempting to blame the Constitution as being too "set in its time" and not applicable to a postmodern world with the amazing growth of knowledge and technology. In reality, however, the founding documents are indeed well-suited to the events of the day, and the well-defined amendment procedure can readily be applied as needed. So if the foundation of the United States is not to blame, then what is?  Simply put, it's the accumulation of choices made by scores of politicians who lack the character necessary to preserve liberty. Presidents and their staffs have chosen to overstep bounds, representatives and senators have enacted legislation without regard to limitations, and judges have chosen to uphold these actions only through convoluted logic. 

Thousands of individuals have contributed to the cancerous spread of the tentacles of government control. Countless officeholders have consciously or subconsciously made the decision to go with the flow and let the monster grow. Solid character is required to stand up against the flow and consider self-restraint and limitation. Solid character is therefore essential to maintain this republic.

As Thomas Jefferson stated:

Yes, we did produce a near perfect Republic. But will they keep it, or will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom? Material abundance without character is the surest way to destruction.

Leaders of high moral character are indispensable in the preservation of liberty. But in a democracy, is not the character of its leaders essentially a reflection of the character of its people? Leaders are elected by the people, albeit through an imperfect system that often obfuscates candidates' character, ability, and intent. Nevertheless, if the people elect leaders who lack the character to apply self-restraint, then the people are ultimately responsible for the results. To borrow a phrase from the technical world: "garbage in, garbage out." When candidates lacking character are elected, the results are predictable. The marble halls of Washington, D.C. are occupied with many motivated not by a desire to serve others, but by ego, greed, self-aggrandizement, and self-preservation. What a sad reflection on the character of our country! 

The founders warned us about this.  Thomas Jefferson again:

A nation as a society forms a moral person, and every member of it is personally responsible for his society.

The decline in character of the people is well-chronicled in countless studies of attitudes and moral standards. How can the government be expected to act responsibly when a citizenry that lacks character elects leaders of the same ilk? For liberty to be sustained, people must elect leaders who respect the established limits of government, and those leaders must be held accountable to work within the established limits.

America's unmatched prosperity and greatness is a result of our form of government coupled with the great moral character of the people. This prosperity and greatness cannot continue forever without national character. One could argue that the character of a nation is a more critical determinant of success than is the form of government.

Even if the excesses of the federal government could magically be reigned in and previous unconstitutional actions could be revoked, would that halt the slide down the slippery slope away from liberty? I think not. The politicians and bureaucrats would undoubtedly march on.

While it is encouraging to see the recent uprisings of the people of this great country in opposition to the accelerating race toward serfdom, it is difficult to envision how a sustainable change can occur without a change in the observed moral character of the people. The demonstrations are hopefully an indication that the character of America largely remains strong. Perhaps that strong character includes a great capacity to endure difficulty, and therefore has been somewhat dormant during recent decades. Hopefully it will resurface and be revitalized soon.

The path to long-term success is built upon the moral character of the people. Let us hope that America's great character can be heartily renewed and reflected in our future leaders. Ultimately, the preservation of liberty depends upon it.

Ecuador has no freedoms left much because its people have no moral character much. Too long do we abandon our values to the pressures of lazy, arrogant manipulators, revealing our own loss of moral surety. Any who enable the manipulators is seen now as weak and silly. Stand for what you know to be true and tell the manipulators to get serious moral counseling. They never loved you anyway because they do not love the moral life so stop deluding yourself that you must have their opprobrium, false in full. Stop looking like a mirror of Rafael Correa inside a false marriage, a false set of non values and a false government. Stop deluding yourself and stay this madness that is Ecuador where no freedoms remain- no justice, no free speech and no future but….the misery that you bring to yourself which ultimately shames your family and community. Stay this madness and set about to live with moral clarity. End this addiction to manipulating everything and start living free.

Here is what Correa and Chavez want you- in fact they insist-  to look like, not a man but an idiot in full, their cartel proxy:

Indeed, this is what your ALBA government fought for and spent lots of money to defend because Chavez, the OAS and the Obama team of overpaid, dishonest Sorosites insisted on it. These hate-selling dishonest  idiots would not know freedom’s democracy if it hit them on the head- their lying, deceptive tin foil hat heads.

You think that defending and enabling drug and booze addelpated manipulative adolescents like Zelaya and the millions just like him in Latin America  will help you live a better life? Honduras stands today not because you lifted one finger to help their freedom fighters when their need was most dire. No indeed. You lazily pretended that someone else would help them. You sound like our Venezuelan celebrities who declared to us that none should care about Honduras or Ecuador and just focus instead on their issues in Venezuela. They too never ever once lifted one finger to assist anyone when their needs were dire. No indeed- they were busy shopping and hiding on Brickell Avenue in Miami,  gassing around aimlessly and with no apparent purpose at anything, vacant, vapid and quite….useless. Did you pay attention when Micheletti in Honduras waved his ring finger before every camera he could, as if some secret decoder ring? Did you grasp what he was flashing to any who understood the signal? No you did not. Micheletti coded to all who had eyes to see and hearts to receive his unerring commitment to the real boss and speechlessly and quietly, humbly showed us repeatedly his Rosary ring, in practice for the good of all. Not Correa, not Chavez and not Soros-Obama could track this nor destroy it. In fact, TELESUR probably blacked out the subtle gesture. Know it and use it. But today you have chosen the Tin Foil Hat liars and rejected the simple Rosary. You can choose better.

You are either with us in Ecuador or you are against us. You are either a definable truth teller or you are not a truth teller. You cannot be both.

Today you must make a choice…no excuses any more. “The path to long term success is built upon the moral character of the people.” That means you. Your nation is in trouble because you have half morals, half truths- the hallmark of addicts to manipulative living which always always cascades in to the hardened non truths of the deceptive and the criminals, now flooding in to Ecuador along with every vermin that ever crawled out of Mahmoud’s evil Iranian mind, now welcome by the disgusting LuLa of Brazil and of course his favorite investor George Soros for reasons still inexplicable to us. Stay this madness- live for success- all of it. You will also need to tell all around you to get out of the way from all truth telling and moral living. They will object and whine and complain and feign sickness…just as Correa, Alexis Mera and their Euro-Red agent Pesantez do. Tell them to get out of the way of truth telling. Tell them to stop hurting liberty with their manipulative addictions. Stop lying to us all that you can best help defend honorable men like Bishop Arregui of Guayaquil by denying his truths, by running away and hiding on Brickell Avenue in Miami and shopping all day and by living la vida manipulativa, self delusional though it may be. You can help the Bishop- you can stand united for truth telling. You can demand that Correa and Pesantez cease and desist calling this good man a traitor. More to the point- you will have to act on this now, united to defend good men and true. Ah- but your family will not let you, you tell us. We remind: you will be next and all your manipulative excuses are known to all for what they are: self deluding non-truths. You will need all the cajones – all the morals you can muster - you can get to stay the madness of Iran’s evil now running too much of Ecuador. With a certainty, your own manipulative morals will never stay Mahmoud’s madness…or anyone’s.
