Great Men Pass This Way But Once

November 16, 2011  This world has many good men but few truly great men. Edgar Teran was a truly great man for his love of Ecuador and his love of freedom.

It is with a heavy sadness that we note the loss of a true patriot, friend to many and a person close to his family and community.

Hoy posts a wonderful picture of Dr. Teran even as we know there will never be one like him again. His scope and  breadth of issues was significant. He was not a perfectly perfect man but as he once stood  on the shoulders of giants, we know he would hold out his hand for the next to come and give to this nation as he did.

It is a sore day for Ecuador and many tears are shed. Edgar Teran was not in exile but while he did predict and condemn the raw, fierce criminality of the Correa government, he could not fathom its rough hand and loss of comity for the least among us. In this, he was in exile…far distant from these days, so foreign to his make up and soul. May he find the peace in knowing that as long as we remember Pichincha, we will never forget that he passed this way but once and gave his full measure.
